I know Chris from NBR just published a story on this... but It got me thinking what is your top tech annoyance?

Mine are...
1, ISP's that crash when you need them (thanks telstra)
2, No service whilst in mobile network coverage
3, Old school spinning disk HDD's...
4, Laggy Mobile phones
5, Laptops that turn themselves on at 3am

People building Ethernet networks with no consideration for how the Spanning Tree will work. So it just works in this haphazard, unstable mess that breaks easily.

People who don't understand how to do something, but instead of just saying "I'm sorry, I don't know how to do that" they'll stall and make excuses and be difficult. Just admit you don't know! We can't all know everything! Or worse, will just blindly guess at stuff.

Headphones you pay >$100 for that break in 6 months.

If you're going to configure an Interface, take the 2 seconds to PUT A FSCKING DESCRIPTION ON IT!

People who use FourSquare and pollute Twitter/Facebook with it. No one cares. No, really. No one actually gives a stuff.

But my number 1 annoyance: When the Vendor closes their bartab and you have to get your own wallet out. ANNOYING!

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

OOOHHHH HYPERFIBRE!

Cellphone won't store new names for predictive text, or looses ones it has stored.

When the laptop hibernates when you shut the lid and then when you think it's off you press the power button only for it to then spring back to life and tell you it's now shutting down.

Having to have all MP3 data totally correct for the PS3 to group songs/groups etc. (It doesn't work on file names and folders to group stuff.)

The neighbourhood wireless modems all being really well password protected.

Facebook lists being cluttered with feedback from friends who use it heaps, but essentially say or do the same thing every day.

Calls from my two places family on Vodafone where they get extremely patchy reception.

Devices having the right hardware but zero time spent on the user interface.  That's my biggest hate by far, I'm really anti anything that doesn't try to bridge the gap between human users and the electronics doing the work.

Devices that do everything but not very well compared to a standalone device.  On my phone I don't want: mp3's, or to watch movies on a 1" postage stamp screen on my phone or a crappy low res camera etc. I just want to talk and text and set the odd alarm!

Shops that still sell Analogue TV DVD/HDD recorders.

Freeview who don't broadcast EIT data on the HD service so most international software programs don't work easily.

Slowness is my hate.

Slow user interfaces

Slow scrolling things

slow repeat when holding buttons down

freeview mheg guide

sky decoders in general

swapping to page file.

firefox's javascript

cellphones when you actually have messages and emails and photos and songs on them.

User interfaces where you have to hold a button for a stupidly long time to do anything like the presets on the car stereo.

double click speed by default where 2 clicks becomes a doubleclick

the people that record most IVR prompts that talk like they have a mental problem or are talking to a spastic, and use the word please press for every option. Really, I have to PRESS 3 to make that happen? I thought I could just think it.

Slingshot internet

Being on hold

Gmail search

Outlook anythinging

People who upload video blogs that take 10 mins to tell you what could be told in 2 - compare dave jones ones to jeri ellseworths for time/content extremes.

Apps which have menus that have stupid delays before submenus appear

The list goes on. Basically if its wasting my time. I hate it.

I'm the same, I hate waiting around for something and I'll look for something else to do in the mean time. Which usually means I get side tracked and the thing I was originally waiting for takes a lot longer to finish.

In fact, I think I originally browsed to geek zone today because I was waiting for a server to start up

Yes. Selling something that will be useless in a couple of years is just stupid.

Mobile phones in general - I hate have a face to face convo interrupted by a phone call. If I am talking to someone, then I will let the call go to voice mail. If my F2F convo is interrupted by the other person taking the call, I walk away, doesn't matter who it is.
Damned rude to allow a phone call to override a personal conversation.

Having those guys trying to scam me into letting them on my computer call. Not really tech but very annoying.

Any device or thing that has to be used by anyone other than myself that doesn't pass the wife test.

The wife test is... can she work it without asking me. If she can then anyone can, and I generally work really hard to set things up that way.

ie, htpc, mysky connected through amp then to tv, harmony remote, cell phones, music through outdoor speakers etc.

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i get angry just thinking about it! ;)

When tech companies say GB = GigaBits when it should be GigaBits and your "8GB" iPod is only 6.9GB. Just like a 1TB Hard drive is only 931GB.
