Tip Toe  > TVNZ+

Neighbours Leo, a Canal Street bar owner, and Clive, an electrician with two sons, find their lives unravelling as social tensions rise. Simple disagreements escalate into dangerous hostility in their Manchester suburb.

9/10

This is up there with the acclaimed Adolescence

They both have a background of social media radicalisation and misunderstanding and its dangerous pitfalls for all ages.

Tip Toe deals with Racism, Homophobia, Hate Crimes and Radicalisation. This is not based upon A real event per se, but upon various true life incidents experienced by the creator and his friends.

Along with these miniseries of 5 episodes, Leo Struthers (played by Alan Cumming) and Clive Goss (played by David Morrissey) deserve awards in script and acting.

The Capture...
Off of Wiki -
The Capture is a British conspiracy thriller television series created and written by Ben Chanan and produced by Heyday Television as part of Universal International Studios for the BBC. The series is centred on Rachel Carey, a fast-track Metropolitan Police detective drawn into a vast conspiracy involving real-time deepfake technology, mass surveillance and manipulated video evidence. The narrative focuses on the dangers of a "post-truth" society, examining themes of political interference, state-sanctioned disinformation, and the ethical implications of covert intelligence operations

We've started watching New Zealand Spy on TVNZ+

Utterly ridiculous and really quite terrible. It's compelling watching and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

IMDB tells us this:
The New Zealand Intelligence Agency seeks recruits.
Three unlikely candidates respond to a newspaper ad and are thrust into espionage, fumbling through betrayal, romance and escalating absurdity.

It appears to be set in the 60's but I'm not sure that's ever been mentioned. James Bond, it is not.

I watched the first episode of this a short while ago.  I love spy stuff, and enjoy a good parody, but this was just a bit too...cringey.

I have enjoyed Paul Williams' deadpan style on Taskmaster NZ, and I've never had a problem with us poking fun at ourselves, especially the tragic 70s setting.  But it felt too one-note, a single joke played on repeat.  I didn't feel compelled to watch any more.

An interesting contrast for me would be the Flight of the Conchords.  That show also traded on the awkwardness of our innate mediocrity and under-achiever status, but for some reason it landed a lot better.  Perhaps Bret McKenzie and Jermaine Clement just had a bit more range than Paul Williams?

Alien: Earth. TV series. First episode brings back most of the classic Alien vibes. I'll go back for the next episode. On Disney.

Coincidentally, tried the first episode of the new Jermaine Clement U.K comedy Alice and Steve. It's a brave scenario. I think I made it over halfway through the first episode. I'll try again. Maybe it will pick up. Although, I can't recall any really entertaining comedies for a long time from either side of the Atlantic sadly.

I gave up on this series after about 4 episodes.  Weird genetically altered young superhumans, Teenage angst, etc.

Usually will watch a bad series to the bitter end, but even this one taxed me.

Stranger Things was bit of a hard slog towards the end, though I'm really enjoying Fallout ATM.

Maybe I'm getting old and jaded..

Wife and I have started watching (nearly finished) a show in Prime called Steal
It stars Sophie Turner (of GoT fame) in the starring role, as a jaded office worker at a Pension Fund investment bank in London.
A daring heist occurs and she is at the centre of it all.

Really enjoyed this and it's fast paced enough to keep you engaged through its 6 episode season.
