surfisup1000: People who fall asleep while driving on open road at open road speeds.
Witnessed this yesterday on a state highway... guy in Ute travelling about 110kph in front of us just veered off the side of the road into a shallow ditch taking out a whole row of reflectors ... was waiting for him to start rolling but the rough ground must have woken him and he veered back onto the road... very lucky he didn’t hit a hole or hard object.
He pulled over at the next gas station presumably to check his vehicle I was surprised he didn’t stop right away from shock of it.
In all honesty, I don't consider that "something small". I hope you called *2000 and reported him.

Totally agree that people shouldn't be driving when fatigued.
Did you stop to check on him though? Could have been a medical event that caused him to lose control.
Auto-correct is why I have crust issues.

Maybe he was drunk?
I am a storeman dealing with deliveries etc, we occasionally get deliveries from a company called ACME and they are always stationary and never rocket powered roller skates

Queen Street in Northcote Point, Auckland North Shore, has gone the same way - but 20 kph, not 25. Bastards trying to slow me down when I'm racin' to get to the Northcote Tavern for a beer with m' mates - but the humps are narrowish 'shallow pyramid' concrete ones and if you line 'em up central with your car, it's easy to hit them at 50 with scarcely a jump because the tyres hit only the low edges of the pyramid and straddle the higher part.

Rocket powered roller skates?
What about the strap on the back rockets, the bombs, the devilish ways to catch the road runner?
(I personally like the rocks/bombs falling on the road runner scenarios)
EDIT: correct a spelling mistake

I figured he was ok cos he drove just fine for the next 10 minutes .... I considered he may have been wasted on something too but it seems most likely he dozed off...Took his plates not sure if I should report it or not.
I still don't get how he drove so fast without rolling...very lucky unlike the 100 meters of reflectors he destroyed.
You absolutely should report it. Next time he does that, there might be people walking along the edge of the road....

This doesn’t excuse or reduce the seriousness of what you saw - but how do you know he fell asleep? He might have been texting on his phone or doing something else where he took his eyes of the road for an extended period.
I've dozed off once at 50kph... woke up as the wheels scrubbed along the kerb. Trust me... this is something you don't forget. So I don't think there's actually much point in reporting the guy to the cops -- he's almost certainly learnt his lesson and won't do it again.
But the problem is recognizing that you are getting drowsy early enough. If you fall into the trap of "It's only another half hour... I can manage that" when in fact you can't, then ten minutes later you probably won't be able to make that decision. Much more sensible is to pre-plan your drive while you're wide awake and thinking, with rest stops as recommended by the AA and NZTA.

1) $6.20 for a large hot chocolate. What a rip! I thought we were peaked at $5. Muffin Break, I am looking at you, and Columbus coffee!
2) Produce shops who's only purpose is to have good quality produce having rotting food in the stalls.
3) Inconsiderate prats who drive at 87 kmph in the right lane on the motorway forcing people to go into a middle or left lane to pass. Oblivious to flashing lights and tooting.
Geektastic:
I'd not be surprised to hear that the inspiration for that comes from Europe, where traffic
calmingmeasures like that have been commonplace for a very long while now.
Infuriating.

Those ones I don't mind so much - it only penalises those with cars with a narrow wheelbase or lowered suspension.
