When I think of the person I happened to randomly pass on the street who helped me back then to lug the miserably heavy washing machine out of the van to the third floor (without a lift) of our first student flat here in Germany. Although we were only students ourselves, I had gladly given him a decent tip and ... I thought he was from the UK, but it turned out he was the first Kiwi I'd met! 😊

Kiwis are good like that. Every time I have had a flat tyre people have stopped to help me.

Only one more late night because of the rugby. This tournament has been brutal, I'm looking forward to getting to bed on the weekend before 1:30am.

I'm fortunate with the timing, because at least for the important matches, I have been able to get up first thing, ignore my phone and get the days games out of the way on demand. It's still costing me half a day twice a weekend, but for me, it's been worth it.

It will be bitter sweet when it finishes, regardless of result. I'll miss Rugby till Feb, but it will be nice to have my weekends and week day evenings back. My rugby widow may like to see me too.

The late games start at 11pm here. Early enough to be tempting but late enough to be brutal after 3 in a row.

That my dog Skipper finally got the message that it is NOT hunting when a driver of a logistics company in bright safety colours brings something to the office for delivery. 😆

NASA has archives of the Apollo 11 LEM guidance computer (and other) source code: https://www.ibiblio.org/apollo/listings/Luminary099/BURN,_BABY,_BURN_--_MASTER_IGNITION_ROUTINE.agc.html#554C4C474E4F54

And it's on GitHub too https://github.com/chrislgarry/Apollo-11/tree/master/Luminary099

And an excellent presentation on what actually happened during the first moon landing, what caused the 1202 errors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1J2RMorJXM

Way cool.

I’m on a plane about to head home for the weekend. We’ve got a friend from NZ landing tomorrow night. Happy days.

As of now, Amazon Vine "product testers" are reported here in GER for the taxation of the monetary benefit of free products sent to them. If people now have to pay tax themselves for the junk they have praised in the past, there is at least a chance of fewer fake product recommendations.

Thanks - yes, just brilliant. I am interested in tech stuff but I’m not a hands-on tech guy. I have been interested in this specific subject for years and have read some pretty detailed books on the subject. This video is the best explanation of it that I have come across - he’s an excellent presenter and I was riveted right through.

Getting a new wof on my 33 year old BMW with 357k Kms and just needing to replace the front tyres.

I've owned this for 12/13 years and the previous owner (a friend of mine) for 10/11 years.

Just goes to shows what a decent car can do with good maintenance and even with an i3 and M5 in the garage, this is the one I'd keep if I had to choose.

Porting to One NZ from 2Degrees.
Told it would happen around 8am today.

Email with eSIM QR code arrived around 7.30am. Really easy to understand instructions given and new eSIM activated in seconds.
Then, straight into the Apple Watch app and again - able to activate the cellular function so easily. This also included a link to a page that really clearly explained what I was getting and how to do what I needed to do.

Went into the One NZ app and all that I needed is in there (in terms of info and account details).
Went to the 2D app to see what I might still owe - no account data. Nothing. Just can't log in anymore. I haven't even had an email from 2D to say "sorry you're leaving, here's your bill" or anything.

The Customer Service/Sales people I have dealt with at One NZ have been very good, too. Super proactive. Made me smile.

This would have been an annoy:

Nuisance caller randomly calling and hanging up. I provided the calls to OneNZ who then said they require four examples when I’ve only got three …

The smile was when they called a fourth time
