Because you get to see less when driving with eyes on the road and can’t examine the structure and details. Is the weather holding out for you as seeing some storms in Europe at present.

Knowing how to fix things and learning how to fix things.

Computer had been running hot of late (HP EliteDesk 800 35W G3 Desktop Mini PC), so took it apart, cleaned out the fans, gave it new thermal paste, then reset the PC. Running much better now.

Well the weather’s not awesome, but neither is it awful. I’d have preferred a bit drier and a bit sunnier!

Visiting my mother in the UK, I was amazed at the speed of delivery for items.

I bought her some jam she likes via a website on a Saturday. Delivered on Sunday morning! Amazon are contracting out their delivery network to all sorts of non Amazon websites.

There’s also a large network of private, Uber style delivery drivers who get delivery work via app like Uber drivers, so parcels are delivered by private cars etc etc.

The speed was impressive - very unlike waiting 10 days for something to go from Auckland to Canterbury…!!

After putting up with my LG remote being unresponsive and laggy in some areas, like the back button and the power button, after 2 years, I decided to call LG. After telling me it was out of warranty and mention of the CGA which I was told excluded the remote (which should go into the annoy thread), they agreed to send me out a remote. What made me smile was that other the short term annoyance of insisting the remote was covered, the interaction was just giving them my address, and the CSR didn't keep me on the call during that time, said he would call back once the decision was made to cover it, and when he did, he had done all the paperwork on his end and just needed my address. The whole transaction took less than 7 minutes of my time.

This has bugged me for 2 years. Changing the audio output on my LG TV which I do at least once a day, is fiddly and I have been trying to find a quick switch method all this time.

Today I found voice commands that do it. My wife is so happy, and so am I.

Stupidly small in the grand scheme of things, but a point of friction in my life that has been there for so long.

Yes, it’s a great start but Booths are only a small supermarket chain in the N of England and they cater for a fairly upmarket, mainly elderly clientele. Still, hopefully it’s the thin end of a wedge.

Probably they have finally worked out that minimum wage is cheaper than having prime steak go out the door as carrots.

Now if only they can work out that minimum wage for a shelf-walker is cheaper than having chicken and sausages randomly deposited on a shelf!
