How easy Home Assistant automations have become.

I’ve just set up automations switching the ACs on and off based on door positions and AC modes, adjusting the speed on ceiling fans and announcing what’s happened on the thermostats as well as sending a mobile notification.

It really was a 15 minute exercise to figure out the logic and write the automation.

BlackWeek 35% off for the neat „Teufel“ (Devil) audio streamer from Berlin. πŸ™‚

Looks like I get lucky with quality audio equipment at the same time every year.

Implementing the spoiler BBCODE tag on Geekzone, and in the process, fixing a years-old problem where recursive tags didn't work.

School is cancelled due to rain (Dubai). It'll be the 7th circle of hell on the roads today so it's not a bad thing.

Saw it on YouTube. Phenomenal amount of water and flooding, cars being swept away. Never expected such an event in a desert country.

It happens everytime we have decent amounts of rain. There's minimal drainage here so no way to get trapped water away. It only happens badly in specific areas and there's only 2-5 days of rain a year here so it's not a big deal unless you are under the illusion that a Q7 is an offroad vehicle. It's always Q7s that end up stranded after trying to drive through the floods.

The arbitrary and somewhat random way public holidays work here. Public holidays are never confirmed until a week or so before they happen.

It’s National day next weekend. On Monday it was announced that the holiday would be Saturday and Sunday, which of course sucked. This morning it’s been decided that it’ll be Saturday-Monday.

Driving home yesterday....see blue flashing lights close to home, and then joy of joy one of the local boy racers vehicles on the back of a truck to be impounded.

Petty..oh hell yes...but I will bask in that Freudenschade for a little longer anyway.

😁😁

If you mean the German word, it is „Schadenfreude.“ Otherwise it could be a „new term“ for our dictionary! πŸ˜‰

The ability to change icons on an iPhone. Didn't like the look of the Dosh & Notes icons.

So, I used google for spelling and was given from Quora

"Freudenschade" is a German word that translates to "joy in another's misfortune or downfall" in English.

HOWEVER both are correct words, one is just the antonym of the other

Schadenfreude refers to the unattractive human tendency to take pleasure in the misery of others. Freudenfreude describes its opposite, the lovely enjoyment of another person's success.

So in this case it could be either , the downfall of a boy race or the win of the police/tow track...
