Elimination format reality TV shows and how seriously the yearning-for-my-15-minutes-of-fame contestants take themselves. undecided

Reality TV that isn't actually real.

You wouldn't be here. smile

Surely there's no place more likely a robot would be than here?!

I assumed a true robot, not those data collecting thingies hanging around to spy.

(Maybe I should really check whether the mowing robot in the shed is stealthly posting in the gardener's forum via wifi ...) wink

How seriously the dull-witted audience take their bread and circuses....

The fact that anyone actually watches that rubbish.

I know - who watches it?

But advertising for this dreck bombards the regular tv stations making it unavoidable if there's something on that your're trying to watch. I find the whole premise behind "Married at first sight" reasonably offensive. Even more so now I am unwillingly knowing that the next series is based on hocking off a rich dude. It seems they are selling an unattainable fantasy to unfulfilled brainless women.

I guess that answers my own question.

One small thing that really annoys me is this thread.

Specifically, I'm annoyed by the fact that I haven't been reading it since the beginning, and I'm 330 pages behind. Every time I have a small complaint (and yes, I do have a lot of them), I feel the urge to search for this thread and post it.

Advertising?

What with AdBlock and Netflix I don't believe I have seen more than a handful of those for a year or more now.

chevrolux: Guest passes to Koru lounges. Seriosuly.... should be frequent flyers only.... and only gold elite get one guest. if you are standard koru, no guest. Also, no dam kids.

Also just the general crapiness of the size of the Auckland domestic/regional lounges. Palmy lounge is bigger than Auckland regional. How does that make sense?!?

And yes I might be a bit grumpy because I'm sitting with noisey people in uncomfortable chairs and my flight is delayed. grrrrrr

Try the lounge at New Plymouth airport. It's always tiny, tiny, tiny.

When I was living there weekdays for a stint a couple of years ago and commuting at weekends, it was the most unloved lounge around. You could go in and find the vacuum cleaner left sitting on the floor, the clock on the wall (not that I used it) was broken for weeks on end. On one occasion the only milk was left in the padlocked beverages fridge. Coffee was instant or a heated glass pot of filtered. It was pretty clear no one loved it - and yes I did complain, several times. While it's no bigger, it has had a major revamp and you do now see staff taking care of it.

Slugs. I managed to axcidently squash one in bare feet. Normal liquid soap was unable to remove its slime from my foot. I had to use undiluted floor cleaner to remove it. The type that has both bleach and sodium hydroxide in it.

Yes. 100% yes.

Lol I feel your pain but will continue to bring the horde in on passes whenever on family trips.
Thanks AirNZ!

I get more annoyed by the businessmen nobs who insist in talking/bellowing into their cell phones.....

I take my daughter on occasion as my guest. Give her the icrack headphones and nibbles and she doesn't move let alone speak for hours. Makes me wonder whether her kidneys are working.

But those businessmen....

Yep, as of 2018 my three are neither loud nor obnoxious nor inebriated in the lounges, unlike some adults I see there. I always grab some chairs in the corner and tell them to keep their heads down, however some folk allow their kids to run riot in the lounges which puts the whole scam at risk.

Big retailers that seem to advise their staff it's their right to have your name and phone number to enter into their database. They don't. As I told one today who started by asking for my phone number to type in "No. Just the receipt, please." He insisted he needs all my details for the warranty on the item I was purchasing. I said "No, you don't. That's what the receipt is for."

"But what if you lose the receipt?"

"Oh, I won't lose it. I know exactly where it's going. I'll be putting it in the bin next time I empty my receipts from my wallet. But I'll have number from the photo I'll be taking of it as soon as you stop asking for my information and give it to me."

Windows 10 again. One of its many updates now causes my desktop computer to randomly crash, sometimes after being on for only 2 hours or so. Do I just have to hope that a future update will fix the crashing problem? Or do I have to figure out which update is causing the crashes, disable it, and hope that it doesn't re enable by itself. As I don't think that Win10 has a system where you can block just 1 update, while still getting all other updates.

This is especially annoying as back when I has WinXP, It would happily run for 1 to 2 months without needing to be restarted. Even then, the only reason I would restart it was to install the monthly windows updates. Sometimes you would get lucky, and they would install without needing a restart.

Aredwood: Windows 10 again.

Pretty sure most Windows troubles are not in the ".. something small that annoys you".

I don't run Windows on any of my machines, but still get stung with Windows trouble time and again.
