Watched Red Notice in the weekend.
It's exactly what I expected from the cast and I really enjoyed it - so did my wife.

Bruised on Netflix. Most of the film was pretty poor, I think Halle Berry needs to stick to acting and leave the directing to someone else. The one execption was the main fight sequence... I'm not an MMA fan so don't know if it was realistic, but it was certainly the most engaging part of the movie. 4/10
Pet peeve: Netflix categorized this as an LGBT film. The LBGT aspects were entirely non-consequential to the plot, it wasn't what the movie was about at all. While it wasn't a good movie, the LBGT aspect was handled well i.e. relationships were relationships and gender didn't factor into it at all - wasn't even mentioned. So to categorize or market it as an LGBT film highlighted aspects of the film that had been intentionally handled as not needing to be highlighted.

Being a gay man in a just celebrated 40 yr relationship who fought the good fight in the eighties & nineties in Auckland, Sydney & Melbourne, that fight is over now. The fight now is the same as for religion, disabilities, first nations & colour etc.
Therefore this labelling is not necessary. There is an interesting conversation going on concerning this very topic in the IMDb community forums
If Netflix and other streaming services wish to point out a particular characteristic as opposed to a genre then they need to add Tags, which in and of themselves can be many for one show. And hey, you could even add the Tag 'Straight', I mean lets not assume. 👫 👠👬
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

It was listed in three "genres", one of which was "LBGT Movies". But catagorising it as LBGT seems to be counterproductive if sexual orientation isn't meant to be the focus. In theory they could tag movies as "straight", but they don't. Not tagging something as "straight", but tagging something else as LBGT is the same as saying "straight is normal and LBGT is not".
Looking at the trailer, I would have thought the right tag for Bruised would be "drama".

Actually the best tag would have been "Avoid".
I am a bit disappointed to see Tom Holland will star in another 3 Spiderman movies. Him and Garfield are my least favourite actors to star as Spidey.
Planet Dune.

I watched this only because it had such a low score so thought it might one day end up a cult movie.
The actors/actress's are trying but yeah practice makes perfect I guess.
If you want just a laugh at the CGI scenes (some are not to bad) and the characters then have a go.
4/10 for me.

Did you recognise Sean Young in it ?
🤣
Dune, theatre. Fantastic.
We all enjoyed this a lot. The characters were very well played and they drew you in to the story. The effects were great and not overdone. The fighting was not overdone. The sound, especially the music was excellent. The main reason we enjoyed was that it was interesting and did not get boring. I just wish I had chosen a better theatre, a bigger screen and one that did not have marks on it would have been really nice. Can't believe the cost now though, pleased to be able to get the AA member ticket special to make it bearable to visit the local but I should shop around.
The Power of the Dog (Netflix)
Beautifully shot (in NZ), brilliantly acted, but like watching paint dry for 2 hours and 6 minutes. Calling it a 'slow burn' is a huge understatement.
10/10 for acting and cinematography. 1/10 for a story that could cure insomnia.
Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
The POwer of the Dog.
Typical Jane Campion.
Genuine surprise ending though, rare these days.
6/10 despite the glacial pace.
Dune 2021
Better than expected !
But lacking in imagination.
Lynch's version still rules.
5/10
Old Henry
A nice take on a cowboy legend.
Any more would be a spoiler :D
8/10
New Spiderman is out 16th December. Wasn't keen to head to Cinemas in Auckland just yet, does anyone know if there are any legal watch at-home options for it?

We watched it on Friday night, and I'd give it a solid 8/10. The pacing was deliberately slow, which makes the payoff/ending so much better.
Terrific performances from the core cast and the cinematography has to be up for an Oscar along side a couple of actor nods.
