Behodar:

The regional council here is doing "Long Term Plan" consultation. One of the questions they have is around how to fund bus services.

Option 1. Increase rates.
Option 2. Increase rates in a different way.
Option 3. Increase rates in a third way.

How about "charge the people that actually use the buses"?

You can't do that, Comrade. How are seven people going to fund an entire bus service all on their own?

Our rubbish collection service!  They've just told us they no longer accept glass in the recycling bin.

You have a rubbish collection service?

We pay a private contractor for ours because SWDC do not come as far as our house, a whole 3 minutes drive from the centre of the village..! They still want $3,000+ a year in rates, of course.

We pay 6k a year in rates and still rubbish collection not included.

Count yourself lucky.

Because then the buses would be so expensive no-one would use them, and then there would be more cars on the roads.

That, and the fact you couldn't get a job because they already had an idiot?

J/K It was just begging for it. I hope you're not the sensitive type, like some in these parts.

Terrible for people on fixed incomes who can't afford to live in their free-hold homes because of the insane rates bill increases, especially as such people are often living alone or as an elderly couple who use bugger all council services.

Well it might be nine people soon; the bus routes are going into Google Maps in the near future!

Why this wasn't done years ago is beyond me...

no one uses them now, so they raise the fare and the subsidies to make them viable, but that just makes it worse and less people use them . A Classic Catch 22.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Windows (7, this time) strikes again.

I can't copy C:\Users\A\Desktop\File.sql to C:\Users\B\Desktop because "the source and destination file names are the same".

People who dont let you in when you are indicating. Especially when you have made a genuine mistake or dont know the area.

My calmness reminds me its not worth somebody elses lack of manners.

Also people dont realise if you dont let me in and I hit you, you are the one who better have insurance.

As someone who has many people push infront on onewa road every morning who have taken the psss by flying down the inside lane and then pushing in at the end, no, I totally disagree.

Funniliy enough when in the crap looking falcon it happens a lot less than when in the MR-S
