Bung: If it's happening now (Easter) somebody in management missed their target of getting it done by Xmas π
Unless they didn't specify which year! π

"If you’ve engaged with the recent post from <big cheese name> or the latest <business unit> hui, you’ll know some changes on the horizon have been announced for <business unit> to a evolve a more functionally orientated, centralised approach."
Don't worry, in a couple of years the federated model will gradually return because the centralised team isn't fulfilling the needs of the various business units... big cheese will need to re-centralise again in three years.

"Restructuring". Doesn't affect me personally and I shouldn't talk about details, but I'll just make the observation that it always seems that redundancies start from the bottom up when it should be the other way around. Very displeased π€¬π€¬
I've pulled the above quote from the Annoy thread but decided to post in the Smile thread because this is the umpteenth restructure in my 40 odd year working life and I've basically stopped giving a ****, and the business jargon bollocks is what made me smile and cringe. This was part of an update email I received this morning:
"If you’ve engaged with the recent post from <big cheese name> or the latest <business unit> hui, you’ll know some changes on the horizon have been announced for <business unit> to a evolve a more functionally orientated, centralised approach."
Now called 'right sizing'.
Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21
That my new driveway gate from Easygate (With all the fittings) in Tauranga has arrived safe and sound in Christchurch.
It is currently in my back yard.
Install guys are here tomorrow........yahoo.
Had one trespasser binned by the Police this week! (Trespass order already against him!)
Court date to come for the repeat offender who has multiple other trespass orders against him!
Handle9: We stumped up the extra to fly premium eco back to NZ. The kids have never flown anything but eco before and more often than not we fly a budget carrier.
They are absolute thrilled by everything that is different like extra legroom, a footrest and getting a welcome glass of juice. It’s really neat.
That's something that brings back memories for me. A year before we moved to NZ we took the kids, then aged 5 and 7 to Disneyworld, Fl for Christmas. (For those who haven't been it's theme park(s) the size of a small country). Christmas Day at the Magic Kingdom was very special.
It was Virgin Airways from LHR to Orlando (MCO for purists).
Virgin pioneered Premium Economy and both ways we were in the front 2 x 2 seats of the upper deck of a 747. The flights were a dream with the kids sitting on the floor with their drawing books between the seat and the bulkhead most of the time apart from when they got some very special kids meals - think kids food but done by great chefs.
It cost a lot of money but as part of the overall experience it was worth it and they remember those flights 20 years later.

Kids just make you smile. They are so happy and grateful for little things that we cynical adults take for granted.
Have a safe trip back home.

In about a year, head of <business unit>, who had promised that centralisation would be the answer to all of <big cheese>'s prayers, will move on with a glowing reference in their next step towards <big cheese> level. A new head of <business unit> will arrive and, after hiring of consultants and focus groups and other window dressing, declare that centralisation was a failed experiment that is now discredited and promise that federation will be the answer to all of <big cheese>'s prayers.

Now called 'right sizing'.
Because it sounds so much better than downsizing.
New gate installed!
I'm really happy with it.
(Trespass nutter was locked up again for several hour last night too!)
Sorry, what's the story with the trespasser @msukiwi?
