I am really tired of your snotty tone, so I am done politely trying to explain the reason for things like this in an effort to help you feel better. I was drawing parallels etc rather than talking about your specific instance. Everything you have an issue with is explained in the T&C's you accepted and Privacy policies.

But by all means, believe what you want, it's no skin off my nose if you want to feel annoyed at something, have at it.

I am equally tired of your aggressive manner. You seem to regard any disagreement with your views as illogical and unwarrented. You also have a very distorted notion of 'politeness'. Let us just agree to avoid each other. I won't respond to your posts and you don't respond to mine. That should work.

I have Australian family and I get they call me Team (Accent)! IDK, I just find it a little basic. My sister got a generic German name but at least it is not common place.

/me shrugs, each to their own, I know plenty of people who would kill someone for a simple easy to spell and say name.

I wanted to call my first born Tim, but my wife wanted something with 2 syllables minimum.

Fair enough, Very much the case every one is different! Nothing against the name I am just not a fan on how it goes with me.
If you want to hear a yarn and a half, My father and mother will never admit as to who named us children (Tim & Heidi). My Nana (When dad lived with her as a teenager) had 2 cats, Timothy and Heidi. Both 2 years apart in age (same as my sister and I) and my dad adored those cats.

Go figure..

Living in NZ now I would take Tim over my own name - Jarle - any day.

I've always thought your name was pretty cool!

Not saying im going to go changing it to that or even change my name at this stage but don't be too let down.
There is a guy at work called Wolfgang. Things, Could be worse.

Agreed. It's a form of click-baiting (though probably not intended as that in this instance). Probably disliked as much as your private data being used in a way you don't want.

Point taken. It is about NZ concerns regarding privacy. I will try to be more explicit in future.

You might find living in Europe being to your taste after 25th of May.

The GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation comes into effect then. And that means:

  1. Businesses will need your explicit consent to send you newsletters. They can not add you to their newsletter without you doing something active to sign up to it (typically ticking a box). They can't make being a part of the newsletter part of their terms and conditions, or only provide a service based on your consent.
  2. You own your personal data, which means

    1. You have the right to your personal data being deleted. But that right is restricted by things like tax law (companies having to keep records of sales they have done to you in their accounting), freedom of the media laws etc.
    2. You will be able to ask the likes of Facebook (already in place) for all the data they have collected on you

  3. Data security

    1. The businesses should take every precaution to secure your data.
    2. The businesses will have to let you know if there is a data breach where your data might have been stoled. From what I understand there is a time limit here as well, and businesses are expected to let you know within 72 hours of a data breach.

The laws have to do with European citizens, but its not limited to EU companies. Any company doing business with EU citizens will have to deal with it.

NZ already has good privacy law. Granted it is timely for a review which I believe is happening

Hopefully we will follow the European example. That is how it should be.

I would rather we do it OUR way. We don't want it to end up a bureaucratic nightmare.

There's something very humorously ironic about the wording there - hope you can see it.

*smiles and wanders off*
