mmm yea i saw that. not sure how it will impact on customs and their import duty if there are 3 parcels in that one shipment from usa and they each have a different nz address.  after watching the fair go feature about import duty by customs last year, i fret about the import duty charges everytime i buy online lol since it's quite a lot of $$.

i have 3 parcels on their way to youshop, so trying to figure out what's most cost effective.

carleeto: So far so good with YouShop.

This was my experience ordering a Nexus 4:
  • Day 1: Item ships from google
  • Day 2: Item was delivered to the YouShop warehouse. (according to UPS)
  • Day 3: YouShop tells me they have received the item. I pay in 15 minutes.
  • Day 5: Item status changes: On the way to NZ. (the address is in Auckland). Estimated time: 5-7 days.
  • Day 8: The item gets an NZ tracking number, but is listed as "Not yet tracked" in their system. I'm assuming this means it has entered NZ but is awaiting customs?
Today is Day 10 and no status changes yet.

My only gripes:
  1. I wish there no delay between accepting the US delivery at the warehouse and the system telling me they had it.
  2. I wish I could store a card with them and authorize the shipping payment by replying to a text the same way I can top up a pre-pay account on 2degrees.

Other than that, it has been a good experience.

Day 10 : It arrives.

That said, for the second identical item that reached the US warehouse a couple of days after the first, the time line is identical to the first right up to Day 5. Then:

Day 12: No NZ tracking number.
Day 13: I chat with an NZ Post rep and they tell me the item arrived in NZ on Day 13 and should be delivered within two days.
Day 14: The website still does not show that it has arrived in Auckland.

Looks like they have some synchronization issues to sort out between their website and what their customer representatives are seeing.

Got a query for anyone, I've checked whatsmyduty and some items I'm importing appears to go over the $60 threshold.

I'm guessing I would need to pay the customs charges but someone has mentioned that NZPost also charges approx. $150 to process this, is this the case or can you bypass this and talk directly to Customs to arrange payments?

Thanks, J

Just had my first parcel not arrive at my door by the next day after arriving in Auckland and getting a tracking number. Not concerned, they still have 6 days to deliver it inside their target window.

I had just got used to it.

Fedex tells me my parcel was delivered to youshop 3 days ago. No word from youshop. Is this normal?

That's normal, if there was a weekend in those three days.

In my case though I have a small parcel that shipped from the warehouse six days ago so it should be in New Zealand by now. I mean, I get Amazon Kindle delivered at home three days after ordering, surely NZ Post can deliver their own service in six days?

I had the same issue with my parcel.  I ordered it on Wednesday last week, it arrived at the YouShop warehouse on Friday.  By Monday i still hadnt had an email notifying me that it had arrived. Tuesday logged into the site and found the parcel was at the warehouse and YouShop was waiting for a delivery address.

Set one, paid for shipping and away it went, got an email following day to say it had been sent.

So, check out the YouShop site, Email is not a guaranteed service.

Also YouShop required me to enter a value for my previous previous two purchases from Amazon. Interesting because unless it's a gift, Amazon puts the amount in a label outside the parcel...

The value on my parcel was picked up fine by YouShop, I wonder if the guy receipting in the parcels doesn't read it? Or do they pull the value from the Invoice that might be on the outside of the box?

Fedex states delivery of parcel on 11th. There's no record on the youshop site of anything when I log in. No weekends involved in the dates yet. A little boy waits.

My parcel is held by customs, anyone know of a fast way to push through this? I'm happy to pay but I'd rather not have to wait for them to send a letter if I can.

1st time experience. just bought a product on amazon and sent it through to my youshop address. I have been tracking it and sure enough earlier today Isaw that it had arriverd in Portland Oregon.
Sure enough at around 1520 I received the email from youshop that my parcel has arrived.
Click on the link to NZ Post site and see the Postage to NZ is arounf $17 and the value is US$63.
Paid the bill.
Good service so far it seems.
Expect the parcel here in around 5-7 days it seems.

Received an email today saying the item arrived in New Zealand - seven days after leaving the warehouse, based on the previous email. No word on the email of expected delivery date. The tracking number went from showing the item arriving at the warehouse and leaving the USA to "Not yet tracked" after landing in country...

SaltyNZ: Well, as long as you don't want battery-powered electronics, anyway:

Dangerous or prohibited items
You can’t send prohibited items through the YouShop service. The most common examples of items that can’t be sent include perfume, aftershave, items containing lithium-ion batteries, ink cartridges and aerosols. We'll take these items out before sending you any remaining items in the parcel. Anything we remove will be destroyed or disposed of. New Zealand Post is not liable for any prohibited items that are destroyed, so please consider our list when you're shopping.

The usual deal here is the item (camera / phone / whatever) can't have the Li-On battery in it...but the package can contain a battery separately.

Maybe it's like the international parcel post you get from Deal Xtreme. They give you a tracking code...and you know when it left Hong Kong....but the item will arrive on your doorstep before that tracking code ever shows it going anywhere....else.

If you want accurate tracking...then you pay for FedEx or DHL.

I guess....
