Rikkitic:

I have turned off all my news feeds. Still getting used to it but my productivity has already improved.

Yesterday, I removed myself from the Trump and US election threads, removed the Washington Post and The NY Times politics feeds from my reader and left all sub-Reddits involved in politics.

There's nothing I can do to change the outcome of the US voters' actions, and I don't need to spend time reading about the dumb stuff that is happening or will happen.

They get what they asked for. We will deal with whatever affects us when it happens. Until then, it's their problem.

I'm quite sure you and @Rikkitic will feel better about life.

I had to do something similar during covid and it was the best thing I could do for myself and my mental health.

As you say you can't change what happens so there's no need to spend your life anxious or angry. It's a terrible way to live and if it doesn't change what's going to happen why put yourself through that?

A local business put up a sign several years ago. Over time, the information on that sign became outdated. I noticed today that they have finally - maybe three years late - printed a new sign with up-to-date information.

The spelling mistake is still present :)

My daughter comes into our room later at night, we both went to bed early and because it's so warm at the moment I had my shirt off.

She notices such and then quickly covers her eyes and says if we are 'eviling' does we want her to leave.

Cracked my wife and I up for the past few days.

Bet you hope she sees it as eviling until at least 20 :)

The kid who ended up on stage seemed to be having a blast, though I sometimes find it difficult to believe they pick 'randoms' out of the crowd and they are always really talented etc :)

I Googled "Why do Americans pronounce soldering as soddering?"

Amongst the apparent theories was one that made me lol: "By pronouncing the L Americans mess up their teeth"

That also came up on EEVBlog recently, alongside kludge vs. kluge.

Also ‘secant’ instead of ‘second’ and ‘carmelised’ instead of ‘caramelised’.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

We’ve been here before. At that time I remember looking into the difference in pronunciation of soldering/soddering and found that there’s a good case for the US version being more historically accurate than the other version that we use - see here.
