To have received a €30 discount on a €69 IoT purchase of new goods. Interesting calculation, either they make a short loss for a day or the profit margin is that big.

Often that sort of thing is driven by rebates. If they are close to their target they may make a small loss but make it up through a rebate or discount level.

At the Sleeping Beauty Pantomime last night where many little ones were dressed in costume watching and squealing throughout in delight. My wee niece sitting on my lap and whispering, ‘it’s scawy,' (scary) each time the wicked queen came on stage but giving the actors a running commentary on who was behind them and what to be careful of. Utterly adorable, am still smiling at the cuteness of the evening.

Although I have learned not to take seriously anything ChatGPT says, I still enjoy playing with it. Now it has been upgraded again. When the San Francisco earthquake occurred a few years ago, I had an idea for a cartoon about it but unfortunately I have no artistic ability whatsoever. So I decided to try it out with ChatGPT. I think the result is fantastic and I have to say I am impressed. This is from a one-sentence description of what I wanted.

This UFO sighting map of the world (technically a UAOMSP or Unidentified Aerial, Optical, Mental, or Social Phenomenon rather than a UFO, but whatever).

From which we can conclude that all aliens speak either English or Dutch (with the usual caveat around anything UAOMSP-related about possible data reliability issues)  If we ever want to defeat an alien invasion we just have to make sure all our communications are in Congolese.

Renovations start tomorrow.

2 weeks from now I won't have to look at uneven paint, mushy crooked lines and corners and cracks.

Lots of small quality of life improvements too, like step lighting on our stairs and better above bed lighting.

The theatre of the pregame at Stade de France last night. From start to finish it was the best I’ve seen.

Even if you don’t like rugby the way they lit the haka is really worth watching.

Absolutely the best way I've seen the Haka presented. Breathtaking.

They get what they asked for. We will deal with whatever affects us when it happens. Until then, it's their problem.

BTW: That's pretty much the same feeling we Europeans had back then when UK voted in favour of Brexit.

Granddaughter. 8 months old. Sitting playing with legs at 90 degrees to body (unsurprisingly), decides to fall backwards onto the cushions, legs still at 90 degrees to her body, sticking straight up.

The $50 Aliexpress moth trap, this is one week's worth of catch:

Just ordered a second one for the other side of the house where the peach trees are.  Hopefully there'll be much less guava moth damage this year.

Epic core strength.  Wish I could have a fraction of that (obviously without putting in any effort to get it).  :-)

Being told today that renovations are ahead of schedule and if weather continues to be warm and fine, we will be completed at least 3 days earlier than expected, but more likely 5 days.

Same price though ;)
