rhy7s: Surprising how badly the majority did on the atmospheric composition question, especially with climate stories being fairly common in mainstream media.

This is by far the lowest scoring question, very surprising that most people don't know what they are breathing..

11/13 - The two I got wrong I face palmed myself... But I hated high school science, mainly because of our teacher. The lessons were always veeeery boring and I never got much help. If it wasn't for my best mate who was on to it I would have struggled more than I did. Most of the questions I considered general knowledge anyway.

It was a strange question -- I thought electrons are considered part of the atom. So, a part of something will always be smaller -- but, electrons are smaller than protons/neutrons anyway.

I just checked wiki and the definition is...

"The atom is a basic unit of matter that consists of a dense central nucleus surrounded by a cloud of negatively charged electrons".

Maybe this question would have caught me out a year ago ha ha but I was reading about the composition of the atmosphere a little while back in relation to why people get given oxygen.

That was the one question I got wrong. I answered hydrogen because I'd heard that it's the most abundant element in the universe.

Still, I'm happy with 12 out of 13.

13/13 - but really it is a pretty easy test, the most interesting part was looking at the breakdown of the sample American test takers. I was quite gobsmacked by how few people knew the breakdown of gases in the atmosphere.

If you want something harder (for us kiwis), then do the news iq test:

I only got 8/13.

Ouch.

The 5 questions I got wrong were all photos of random American politicians (ok well perhaps one of them wasn't quite so random, and I really should have got it right, but I'd be quite impressed if someone here got full marks on that test, without cheating or guessing)
