During the segment on this on Nat Rad they read out some classic examples of why the claim was so premature; I can't remember the specific examples but the internet's full of them. One of my favourites is "Let's eat Grandpa" (as opposed to "Let's eat, Grandpa")!

c.f. "Eats shoots and leaves"/"Eats, shoots and leaves" - the title of a popular punctuation book from a few years back. "Let's eat Grandpa" is a good one.

context plays a bigger role e.g 'The Koala eats shoots and leaves' or 'The Koala eats, shoots and leaves' it's obvious what the meaning is irrespective of punctuation. In modern rapid communication simplest is quickest and why English survives, it's adaptable and correctness evolves with it.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Fair point, but few are aware of the difference been an acronym and an initialism (as my own phone just confirmed by it auto-correcting it to initialise!).
