I usually help educate people that do this by lifting their rear wiper up as I walk around the car.

Its ok to be there if you are opening or closing your gate, otherwise no, not ok to park there.

Friend who came across someone doing that just used the wheel as a step and walked across the bonnet of the car leaving a massive dent in it when we were walking back from somewhere after drinking. It was funny as. And no chance they were just gone for a bit because it was 3am in ponsnobby.

I would never advocate damaging or tampering with someones vehicle. Their parking is selfish and wrong but two wrongs do not put it right.

I personally wouldn't do that either.

However the two wrongs don't make a right is for a perfect world. The one we live in, people think their actions won't have consequencies. For them actions speak louder than words, even then for some ignorance turns to arrogance when they try to justify their behaviour.

The whole justice system and law exists specifically to wrong someone who has wronged someone else.

I don't condone what he did, but I don't have sympothy either for the consequencies that resulted.

Unless there're some exceptional circumstances involved, potentially expensive damage to someone's property isn't equivalent to them being inconsiderate or stupid.

Let's keep in mind that the kinds of inconsiderate behaviour we've been talking about is often unintentional. I'm sure the OP didn't intend to block the passage of people that couldn't get past, whether they are wheelchair users or elderly people for whom navigating that gutter and berm could be dangerous. He clearly didn't think but lack of consideration isn't a crime. The world would be a whole lot better if we all considered how our actions impact on other people - that includes damaging property because we take exception to what someone has done.

I have news for you: what was being discussed is called wilful damage or intentional damage (depending on what the prosecution pursues). Unless you somehow aren't bothered by people committing crimes (however much I do not condone what the OP and other inconsiderate car-parkers do, there's a reason why society and the law doesn't in general expose people to the risk of a criminal record for being inconsiderate) and don't see how inconsiderate/annoying behaviour, when met with deliberate and wilful violation of others' personal rights, is an entirely disproportionate response, how you can justify your proverbial shrug at the behaviour concerned is simply mind-boggling.

What's next? Well action speaks louder than words to many people, including those who assault someone when drunk! I know, let's give that guy a group beating. That will teach him a thing or two!

Who do i call to argue this? The Auckland council?

Are you trolling? Maybe you should call AA and get some extra lessons on driving?

At the same time, call the handicap association to get some clues on how to not make life harder for those who would actually need to use the footpath for things like wheelchairs.

But please do call the council and send them the pictures. Someone there might want to tell you how to get a clue as well.

joker97: I had a similar issue. Parked at the same spot for years, then got a fine. Parking within 6m of am intersection.

Issue is, I was about 4m I thought I was good. Other people park 2-3m no fine. No yellow line to indicate 6m. Gutted.

The no yellow lines to warn that you are too close is a rough deal.

Neither should they. as the path is being blocked.

A friend argued with them without sucess when he was parked over the crossing where it is in the verge and not the footpath and was unsucessful as well. The council dont care that it is your own driveway you are blocking, you are simply not allowed to block driveways at all.
