I've still got the Pace v5542 router (
) that then Telecom gave me while I waited 6 months for them to install Fibre - and I had to help them diagnose the faults on the firmware! The joys of beta testing something that you never know if it'll successfully flash or not...
Getting this would finally let me decommission the hackery WDR-3600 router that's working as an access point too - in favour of the E400 access point I picked up that really wants PoE to make it ideal...

That would fit in nicely in my wooden rack above the switch instead of my current Linksys E3200 router running tomato (balanced behind the lan cables only for this photo). Normally the E3200 is sitting on top of the old desktop case off to the side.
Not the prettiest setup, however, works fine.
Current bug is VPN from my phone to the router quite often doesn't work. I'm sure the MikroTik RB3011UiAS-RM would not have this issue.
Edit - in case any eagle eyed readers were wondering, the two pairs of twisted pair wire going up to the 4 port faceplate carry power for my cordless phone. I have a 2 line cordless phone, that faceplate combines the two lines, as well as passive (non standard) poe from the standard power adapter for the phone which is backed up (along with the ont, switch, router, ATA and wireless access points (2x E400)) by the UPS.

This router would be a great addition to my setup.
My current bug with my setup is having to walk down the hall to unplug the ethernet cable to kick the teenagers off the internet.

I should have first said I have just moved to Outram if that's important at all. Couldn't seem to find any other issues in the area. I have been having problems with my Broadband setup and a friend came over to help set it up but I just can't seem to get it working.
I purchased an old router off Trademe and it's got Nokia M11 on it so I am sure it will work on my VDSL connection. I've plugged it into the phone line but it just doesn't seem to work. This is a photo of my setup. I'm sure my friend plugged it all in right as he knows a lot about computers.
I rang up the MyRepublic helpdesk to see if I could get them to fix the broadband connection but I just couldn't get it working. Then my mate said he saw a guy from Chorus playing around at the end of the street and I could go ask if he could fix my broadband. I went down and asked which line I should be plugged into but he said I needed to log a case back with my ISP. I took a photo of the box all the gear was in, I think my connection just needs to be plugged into the free port there.
I'm sure someone could help me out there, or with this snazzy router I am sure it would solve all my problems.
My Xircom Pocket Ethernet adapter on my laptop works at work so I am sure my mate could make it work at home. I'm looking to purchase a USB-C to Parallel dongle for it so I can make it work on my daughters new Macbook. Please, I would really appreciate it and I know I could put it to good use.

Rocking an NF4V as provided by my employer and ISP... it does the job but a Mikrotik would certainly garner more a LOT more geek-cred.
A shiny new router might also be the encouragement needed to sort out this rats nest of a "cabinet"

My current router is a Fritzbox which is on the fritz (pun intended). Not letting me firmware update it and randomly just slowing down for some strange reason.
I have a gigabit switch from Belkin that I was using to extend the number of available ports, but that thing drops packets like you wouldn't believe.
So yeah. Here is another "bug" :D
Would love to get something a little more stable in my network setup. :)
