If I wanted in-depth news I would have a newspaper subscription

LOL but *which* newspaper? Certainly not NZHerald or Stuff. Politik is ok but as the name suggests, mostly politics. NBR os ok but mostly business. Several overseas newspapers are ok but no NZ news.
I'll subscribe - just as soon as the Herald actually becomes a newspaper and not mostly a collection of utter clickbait drivel wasting electrons on a server somewhere, such as today's scoop: "Why queues for women's toilets are longer than men's" (sic).

Well, that's easy. If a man has to wait more than 3 minutes to pee, he will find a pot plant :)
given that Stuff, NZ Herald are soap operas and I don't pay for or watch soap operas it makes no difference to me. Watching the epic fail maybe of entertainment value though.

Article here: https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/106499453/nzme-reports-52-per-cent-decline-in-profits-in-half-year-results
"NZME will adopt a “freemium” model with day-to-day news and current affairs provided free of charge, and premium in-depth analysis and opinion available on subscription."
Which has me slightly puzzled. From my (increasingly occasional) visits to the Herald website and the other thread in this forum about stupid Herald and Stuff articles, I'm not sure what the "premium" content is that the Herald has that they think people will be willing to part with cash for. They struggle to get basic facts and accurate reporting of the simplest stories right, and mostly seem carry advertorial or opinion content from people pushing barrows in lieu of any actual news.
I'm curious - would anyone here subscribe to the Herald and pay a monthly fee to access the current range and quality of reporting?
The best thing about the herald are the opinion pieces (except for hosking whom I cannot stand).
I would miss those I guess, it is interesting to read other peoples opinions on current affairs and business.
The premium & indepth section is pretty lightweight and seems to be very leftist oriented so I won't miss that much at all.

i pay a subscription to the Washington post, but that is a real Newspaper and worth every penny . The Herald not so much.
They let you do that from overseas? I have made a couple of donations to the Guardian, but have not subscribed.

What'll we do if they legalise weed, though?

Everyone will be too stoned to care how long the wait for the bathroom break is.

Haha, you should work in the entertainment section for the Herald. Apparently they will have more money to pay people soon!
I wonder if some ISPs may bundle subscriptions as part of their point of differncce, when selling services. eg Spark offer Lightbox for free etc. So stuffs ISP division could do the same for their paper.
I can't imagine why anyone would want to read the Herald, but if their paywall is as half-baked as their content, just install a javascript switcher.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
myndlyz:dejadeadnz:They would have to pay me to read Mike Hosking's incoherent, drooling-moron-on-drugs "opinions".
Can you please explain why you, a lawyer, have posted potentially defamatory accusation about someone?

Maybe you two could go bitch at each other via private message? Failing that, try ignoring each other.
