Just to add in my 5 cent's worth, ordered a few things from a few businesses shortly after we moved to level 3 and from my unscientific data, the delays i'm experiencing have been due to the depot's in the North Island (I'm in Christchurch).

Two 'local' packages originating from Chch were sent/received within a day or two - as one would expect. Two other packages that were scanned as received from the sender in late April are still recorded as collected from sender and in the depot (Hamilton and AKL South Suburbs). Looks like I won't be receiving these in a hurry.

A couple of notes from talking to businesses overseas.

Air freight costs have increased 400% as so few planes are flying now - many of those are close to empty when going in one direction...

Couriers are paid stuff all and they don't exactly get the best of staff on the front line - some are okay, but many seem to have a few different hussles on the side.

The freight system is broken - but venting on a tech forum won't fix anything.

Buying a van and getting your own side hussle as a courier might though... just saying.

I bought a book from Britain a month ago. It sat for two weeks before it was dispatched. Delivery to NZ is supposed to be 5-7 days but when I just checked the site, that had been doubled. Apparently this is specific to NZ, probably to NZ Post, which is how all my courier items arrive at my rural address. Even with Covid 19 I thought a month ought to be enough. Now I'm wondering if it will make it on time for the birthday on Saturday.

Oddly I’ve had perfect experiences with everything I’ve ordered. Picked up from shipper and delivered next day or day after every time.

The one parcel I do have issues with is coming from Australia - looks like this has been stuck for a while, but in fairness it had issues at the AU end as well so I think it’s just cursed.

I think 5 days will be standard for a while once we're "free" again. More businesses open, more things being purchased and shipped......

Our local couriers arent too bad when it comes to getting stuff to us once they have it, only had one or two being too lazy/scared of dog to come down the drive to knock at the door.

Im waiting on a variety of things from different suppliers....

2x packages from 2 different suppliers in AU.

2x items from PBTech ordered days apart.

Be interesting to see what turns up when :)

On Tuesday last week I ordered a product from Garmin which shipped from Australia and arrived in two days. I'm not sure which courier company they use.

On Monday I ordered something from Apple which has also shipped from Australia and it's showing as having arrived at the Wellington depot this morning. It will be interesting to see if it gets to me today as per Apple's prediction - I seem to recall they used to use TNT as their backbone provider and CourierPost for last mile delivery but that may have changed.

My package from Apple arrived late this morning, so less than 48 hours from Sydney to Porirua. It appears that they now use DHL for the entire length of the delivery.

NZ Post are getting hammered (especially Auckland) with parcels for locla delivery, they let there Temps go a week or 2 ago when it was Lev 4 lockdown and have just got them back now.

If you are sending parcels overseas, expect delays, they cannot get them on flights on a regular basis.

Seems to be the case in Auckland. Overnight local parcel got picked up today with estimated delivery as 11th (Monday). On the other hand we received a parcel via Post Haste Hamilton to Auckland overnight yesterday which I was really impressed with.

PBTech also have phone problems apparently due to them all working from home. Before they hang up on you a recording asks you to use online chat which seems to be removed from the site. I submitted an online query and got a response back after 24 hours. This is for an order placed last week for which they initially claimed to have no record of.

I can tell you it hasn’t been much fun trying to chase this order.

I’ve not had any issues with any courier deliveries.

It's a major problem across all couriers unfortunately - fastway now saying 4-5 extra days (their overnight was already 1 week so likely now 2 weeks) these packages I've been waiting on for a week.

I remember seeing one of the courier bosses on the news during level 4 saying they've got loads of capacity - where are you now??

In all seriousness it's a major problem for businesses waiting on parts - we now have to tell people it could be 2 weeks instead of 2 days.

I am also having the same issues, 4+ days to get an overnight from west auckland to north shore. Scans only show pickups still. I can currently get things in faster from china than to get it from 1 side of town to another.

4 days from penrose to st johns and still waiting

I ordered something from Noel Leeming online for my parents during lockdown..... courier picked up from Manukau, took item all the way to East Tamaki to the depot there for it to be sorted for a day, then picked it up again and delivered to to my parents.

So took 3 days and 30km of driving (assuming went manukau to east tamaki, to mangere, but highly doubt that).

Parents are 6.5km from the store.

I had something delivered yesterday from aliexpress ordered at the beginning of April. I did not hope it would turn up anytime soon and it was $2 item which costs $20-30 in NZ. Tracking stopped on 11th April (ready to be air shipped) and no further updates.

So I guess post/couriers slowly getting into backlog of parcels. I certainly know our company's warehouse is about 2 weeks behind and orders are flying in as hot potato!

New monitor from a fellow GZ'er, picked up on the 4th of May from Oamaru, and arrived (today) the 7th of May in Hamilton. - Courier Post.

Going to laugh if my items from China arrive before my case does, from PB Tech in Auckland.
