Crea: there are "e-bay" parties there?? oh man, I'm gonna so chop up my parents and sell them in pieces on the black market... you people are bloody awesome!!!! LOL

(but I still don't get why would anyone trow an "e-bay" birthday party... I don't get the concept... :| I think I need a pictorial to understand :) be considerate, I'm from a different planet ;) )

To be honest I don't know why the likes of e-bay or trade me would throw a party - unless it was their birthday or something??

Other than that I'd have to hand that question over to freitasm as to why trade me threw a party haha

freitasm: I took my wife to the Trade Me Birthday party, and dinner afterwards.  (edit)

Hmmm... Mauricio this could easily be taken out of context given the thread tittle.Surprised

@Crea.  I know a 'Trade-me Birthday party' sounds like some fantasy wife swap that only happens on your birthday... but I'm yet to find that country (or wife...Wink)

So back to Kiwi blokes.  It be be wrong of you, or anyone, to think that Once were Warriors was representative of atypical Kiwi male.... Its a 16year old movie based on a book a few years older still.

Further the words romantic and romance have two very different meanings.  A lot of chaps would head off to 'that' Trade-me swap with romance on their minds, but I doubt few romantics would be tempted to go along.

The romantic notion associated with giving the gift of a flower lasts far longer than the bloom.

Trade Me puts a movie party together on their birthday, every year. I get invited. About 300 people at the Embassy Theatre in Wellington this year...

I thought it might of been trade me's birthday - how old is trade me now?  My guess would be 8 years..

Sorry I know it's a little off-topic.

I don't mind the off-topics, it's fine with me :) ...does anyone have any pictures of that "Trade Me" thing 'cause I still can't wrap my mind around it... :D

@oxnsox, I'm not that naive ;) ...I liked the movie as a movie but I'm not into being hit for now reason whatsoever, that's not how I want someone to express their love for me... so, I don't think that Kiwi men are like that... on the contrary, I think Kiwi men are very sensitive and caring... that's my experience so far...

...although I've learned that the Kiwi men consider themselves to be macho and what not I think they're the biggest sweethearts ever... :) ...and I don't think I'm being biased :)

Well i'm still trying to figure out how i missed this topic when it was started or any of the replies to date.

So to the original question i would say at heart most would probably believe they are however it's the person their intended romantic behaviour is towards who would ultimately judge whether or not it was romantic.

I have a friend who earlier this year spent 5 or 6 dates all of which were different (dfferent places, different activities) before asking if they were going out hehe. I thought it was pretty awesome considering the guy in question is not someone i have ever thought of being a romantic type.

As for myself I probably fall into the same category as one of your earlier replies that now i'm in my mid thirties i would really not consider myself as a romantic type anymore. Of course this doesn't i would not try to be if I had the opportunity to go chasing after someone whom i felt i would like to be romantic with and get to know better.

Overall as a generalisation of kiwi men and of course there would be many who disagree and some who agree I would say being romantic is something that you do when their trying to win the affection of another. After they have succesfully obtained the object of their desire (and i mean obtained in the loose sense and certainly not in the property type as women / men are not property of one another) they then cease to be romantic and move on to complacency or romance dependant on the person.

It's a bit like a job you would go hard out at the beginning to A) get the job and B) show them they made the right decision in hiring you. However sooner or later (could be weeks, months or even years most would cease to continue in that way and move in to a go with the flow (do like the others around them do) phase.

Well that's more than my ten cents worth hope it all makes a inkling of sense. :-)

Are you okay? Seriously i think your just kidding us. I dont know but are you still in your country or here in NZ? If not then why dont you come to NZ and start dating and find out for yourself if your so interested in kiwi men.  Or maybe go to TM and look up ''Find Someone'' and chat with the kiwi men there you might get lucky.

One thing that got me questioning is you watched 'Once Were Warriors' and based us on that? A movie about men beating their partners black and blue, gang members, violence etc, please dont tell me you found the facial Tattoos sexy as well many woman ive spoken too from outside of NZ who have watched that movie think the facial tats are real sezy, Oh boy if they only new the meaning of the Tattoos.

If you like that type of lifestyle when you get off the plane head straight for South Auckland, to attract attention go for a walk at midnight.

Your sounding like someone seeking attention.

Dude she's not trying to get attention - she is showing some appreciaton for watching a kiwi movie - I think it's safe to say that not "all" people beat up their partners.

Soo Crea here's a question back at you...

Over the last weekend in NZ we've had some serious sporting events. In Dunedin The All Blacks beat a Welsh team playing rugby, that bestial game that is all about direct conflict. Running headlong straight into your opponents to move forwards by a few yards on the field... it's about being tough and hard and taking the pain again and again. It's not ballet, it's about giving everything you have for 14 other blokes on the field...and a ball.

This morning the All Whites played Italy in football match in South Africa. Playing soccer, that almost clinical game where the athleticism of your teammates helps you protect your Goalie and your goal from getting the ball. Yet simultaneously pressuring that same single player at the other end of the pitch and his net. For spectators it appears far less physical, almost theatrical, it's one-on-one, it's about position, and power... and a ball.

Kiwi men play both those games, although they are quite different. And the New Zealand public support them both in fervent and patriotic ways. They're both very different, but both share a passion from teams and supporters.

So which kind of player are you romantically inclined toward?????

Is there a third option? (ie: people who don't follow either sport)

I have to apologise to Crea, we don't have a flag for her country (our flag database is a few years old)... I will have to find one.

There is always another option.....
For that is the way of our world, to define and redefine things till we loose sight of the land that was the anchor of our beliefs, and soo turning to the indefinable sky we decide to focus our lust for a passion on......

.....Chemtrails.
