Overall, not really. I'd say more pragmatic than romantic. Afterall, why buy flowers when they're going to die within a week ?
Flowers are mainly there for that get out of jail scenario :-)

Conversely, a good majority of Kiwi females don't really inspire that romantic "trigger" for a number of reasons. Most think it's still cool to slop around the shopping mall in track pants and sweatshirts.

Wow, cynical much? It's sad that to some flowers = romantic. No, I don't buy my wife flowers, but then I don't consider flowers to be particularly romantic. Does my wife? Probably, but I'm also quite sure she'd rather I packed a nice picnic and took her to the beach (maybe getting a bit late in the year for that) than bought an overpriced bunch of blooms.

Personally, I think it's worse when I see people dressed up at the mall. You reall need to wear high heels shopping at the mall?!

+1 :)

I still wander into the local Westfield with no footwear in the summer.... the ones I find amusing are the young girls who go in there with the full on makeup on and then go straight to the "$2" jewllery store.

What IS a "Kiwi man" anyways. There's sweethearts and slobs in most cultures isn't there? (To varying degrees)

I think that falls under the romantic category bazzer.

To answer the original question: I'd have to say yes, but in our own unique way. We aren't the most outspoken bunch to start with & probably aren't going to sing you a song to your balcony. Maybe a small thing here, a small thing there, then again, I'm single so I can't talk!

true true... I haven't stated what I consider to be "romantic"

...well, I'm not very competent because for me the most romantic things is to lie naked and talk about super massive black holes :) I suppose that's not considered to be romantic by most of people... I'm not into all that flowers thing  :))

I have heard that Kiwi men are pragmatic and macho but I think there is a sensitive side... so, how do you show that sensitive side :)

edit:

@nickd, I consider that small expressions of affection to be more effective that those grandious...

"Romantic" is far too general. What is one persons idea of romance may not be for another. I'm sure my wife would rather I was loving than romantic.
Here's what I mean:

If I cook a dinner for my wife then its considered romantic but if I cook her dinner every night then it stops being romantic and becomes loving.

We either offer to cook, or offer to do the dishes. Not both. Feel free to decline....

I think our image of romantic Kiwi men has adapted from his role in Once Were Warriors to the Kiwi man's new role in Go Girls.
