I've got man flu, on holidays. Why is this in the smile thread and not the annoy thread?

This time at least I have proper cold and flu medication that contains Pseudoephedrine and actually works to help combat the symptoms.

Free leech on several sites, and at this time of year I actually have the presence and time to be able to take advantage of it.

My Ring Doorbell went faulty after 5 years. Called them and they sent me a decent discount voucher for the new much improved version cheaper than I could have gotten it anywhere else.

One of our really nice Visionary Technologies Integrated LED lights developed a fault.

I contacted them for a replacement.

They sent an electrician out with a new upgraded light at no cost to us, including the cost of the sparky to replace it.

These were about twice as expensive as the ones you'd see in lighting companies, and well worth the extra money.

You shouldn't have to pay extra for companies to meet their obligations to consumers.

If you bought a $25 fitting from Bunnings, you'd expect Bunnings to send out a sparky to replace it for you free of charge at your house?

Edit: The price difference was due to additional functionality/quality.

The CGA does allow you to claim reasonably foreseeable losses. If the item requires professional services to install, then yes, those technically should be covered. A like-for-like replacement doesn't require an electrician however, unless it's not in your own home.

I've never been a fan of the CGA making repairs the retailer's problem. These costs should be covered by the manufacturer or local distributor, which is why in a situation like this I would go back to the distributor instead. If they didn't sort it, only then would I go back to Bunnings and make it their problem.

Shrugs, I wonder how that would work with something like a Ceiling Mounted Projector, or a Home Theatre Amp where everything is wired up/in?

I would expect most products in that category would be easily removed and replaced by the end user. It may be a difficult job, but it's still technically on the consumer can do without bringing someone in.

If you have a complex situation, such as requiring a scissor lift to access an extremely high ceiling, then I doubt it would be considered reasonably foreseeable and a specialist product may not meet the definition of a product ordinarily acquired for consumer use and therefore fall outside of the scope of CGA anyway.

I was told that for small appliances, if it was delivered and installed then they should arrange for someone to come out, but if you picked it up from a store or it was couriered to you then there was no expectation that the retailer should cover the removal and installation of the item.

This is why I have paid the price to get my last 2 tvs delivered and installed so that I don't have to deal with getting them back to the store if they break.
