Handsomedan:
Wonka.
Timbo Chalamet was good. In fact he was very good.
Only issue I had with it was the lack of continuity with the Depp film. Different backstory etc.
Still very enjoyable.
It was more of a prequel to the Gene Wilder film.
Enjoyable, but not as memorable as that one.
networkn:
Roadhouse 2024.
The worst movie I've seen in 5 years. Awful, just so, so bad. Incoherent. It gets a star for a couple of saving moments in the movie 2/10.
I enjoyed it.
I wasn't expecting High Cinema, just a lot of violence.
It wasn't as good as the original, but I'd give it a 7.

In hindsight, I believe you are right!
The Gene Wilder film is an all-time classic.

TRUE ROMANCE (1993) • 4K Ultra HD Disc • 9/10
A comic-book nerd and Elvis fanatic Clarence (Christian Slater) and a prostitute named Alabama (Patricia Arquette) fall in love. Clarence breaks the news to her pimp and ends up killing him. He grabs a suitcase of cocaine on his way out thinking it is Alabama's clothing. The two hit the road for California hoping to sell the cocaine, but the mob is soon after them.
From an early Quentin Tarantino script; True Romance is an absolutely mega enjoyable film. Directed by the late Tony Scott and with a stellar cast, many of whom were just making their way in Hollywood at the time. Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Denis Hopper, Christopher Walken, James Gandolfini and the list goes on...
Tarantino isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he just seems to have the knack of getting everything right in his scripts. Witty one-liners and enjoyable dialogue, not to mention, fun... which is sadly lacking from many of today's over hyped films. Sometimes a little hard to watch through some of the violent scenes, but always entertaining.
Loved this film. I may re-watch all of Tarantino's films over the coming Winter months.

Thinking of going again. Will pic this up on Blu-ray.
I did see it again. Dune Part Two – IMAX Auckland 7/10
Still enjoyed the film, I am just not a fan of the Auckland IMAX. Seats uncomfortable, heads blocking bottom of screen, sound not as good as the New Lynn Titan XC and pricey. Yet my friend preferred the IMAX over New Lynn and the Silky Otter which surprised me.
Since watching it the first two times I have read reviews and watched a few videos about it, so that impacted things this time as I was looking out for the negatives more. It was certainly more in your face at the IMAX, too close really even though we were in the middle row. Enjoyed seeing the clothing that close but some of the fight sequences were not as good up that close.
Looking forward to the 2 movie 4k pack arriving mid-May
Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver on Netflix
Big budget sequel to last year's Rebel Moon Part 1.
Zack Snyder really wanted this to be his Star Wars epic. While he has built a similar Imperial Overlord feel and the action sequences are kind of cool, the character development and the overall familiar storyline leave me a bit...unfulfilled.
It was a great "switch off, relax and watch" kind of movie, but my wife kept saying "Haven't we seen this before?" and she was deadly serious - she thougt we actually HAD seen this before, as it all seemed so familiar.
I enjoyed it, but wouldn't be going for a second watch, I don't think.
It was very well set up for further instalments at the end, but yeah. If future instalments are not made, I can't see there being a lot of tears.

It was fine. McGregor is not an actor. Gyllenhall is.

i quite liked the first part, whereas the scaregiver is bits of star wars, seven samurai and independence day (the one with will smith) put in a blender.
OMG possibly, my favourite book of all time, is being released 20 March 2026. Project Hail Mary.
Strongly dislike the casting of the protaganist, but hopefully, he can surprise me.
If you want a RIVETING read, read Hail Mary - Andy Weir.

Dont be put off thats its a Jim Carrey movie . Its not a comedy & he doesnt stay happy & smiley for long .
Well worth a watch . Its not predictable , if you think you've worked out where the plot will go you're probably wrong .
8/10

That looks pretty good. I'll make that a trip to the movies.
Trailer doesn't really show a lot - off to do some more research.
During said research, I found the Author's name - Andy Weir.
Who let the trailer out with his name spelled wrong??
That begs the question - is it an actual Teaser Trailer, or a fan-made hopeful trailer?
Edit:
It's in pre-production, rumored to star Ryan Gosling and there's no actual trailer of any sort.
I am a big Andy Weir fan and would like to see all of his work made into movies with the right cast and budgets.

I watched the new version, having only discovered the original a few weeks back. It may have been because I watched the original so recently, but the new version suffers in comparison. I like Gyllenhaal as an actor, but his interpretation of Dalton felt banal. Compared to Swayze's Zen-style bouncer, Gyllenhaal's take is nothing remarkable. And the backstory he's given robs his character of the mystery that Swayze had.
Connor McGregor is definitely not an actor on the same level as Gyllenhaal, but his over-the-top character was at least memorable, if a bit too much for the story.
Overall, this was a remake that didn't need to be made. It adds nothing to the original and fades in the shadow cast by its progenitor.
