Now I have a bad conscience towards the old people, but I'm much better rested again.

I think there's an implied social contract there that you won't bother them if they don't bother you, a bit like the homeless people who use the Auckland city library as a drop-in centre, no-one bothers them unless they make a nuisance of themselves (which I've never seen happen). Since they've violated the unwritten social contract, they should expect some sort of response to this.

Yes, the unwritten social contract is exactly the right description. I didn't want to make life more difficult for them than it already is - they could have stayed there for my sake (although it's raining - then they were probably in the nearby parking garage), they didn't drink and were also careful about their appearance. Still, they don't seem to get it. And I also wonder what the police in their country would have done to me in a similar situation? (from what I experienced, ours was polite and respectful, but firm with them).

Most Kiwis will have stopped reading at the bolded bit above, having dropped

Why this? I'm just making a wild guess that the New Zealand Police would either show up faster, slower or not at all? (with the latter two I would be out of the discussion - that's up to you. With the former I would like to know how you do it).

@Tinkerisk It May have been a blessing in disguise for these people. In an efficient society such as yours, Social Services would have been contacted and some solution found. You likely did them a favour.

That was another thought and you are probably right. I hope that they will take this as an opportunity to take care of it right now, in our summer - because we have already had winter nights with -28 DegC. Because of the many refugees from Ukraine, Syria and other war-torn countries in Africa, there is an army of interpreters and social services on the way, which are also financed by my taxes (again, which I think is ok).

Therefore, it would send the wrong signal to privately provide them with food and everything and tolerate everything - in the long run, it would not be a solution for them either. Refugees even get financial support from the state for nothing in return - of course word spreads fast everywhere in these countries (smartphones have every child and every dog in these countries).
This is mainly pushed by smugglers and escape helpers and false information is put into the world, who then leave their own compatriots to their fate on the high seas in rubber dinghies in the Mediterranean for their last money, because they speculate on the Europeans' rescue at sea. If we then reject it because it is a deliberately brought about, calculated, avoidable sea emergency, we are once again the rich, heartless Nazi EU.

In the end, everyone sleeps the way they make their bed, not the way they dream of being bedded.

It's because they feel obliged to at least give me something in return because of the many illegal parking tickets. No joking aside. You don't call the police for every little thing here, you think twice about it first. They appreciate that and take things all the more seriously. Or they probably just had a quiet night and wanted to go on patrol as well.

This brilliant idea from everyone's favourite cr*pvendor, an attachment to turn an angle grinder into a skilsaw. A 100mm/4" grinder typically runs at around 10,000rpm, while a skilsaw runs at maybe 5000rpm. Anyone want to guess what happens when you run a 5000rpm blade at 10,000rpm? Or, if it survives, plunge a blade spinning at 10,000rpm into a piece of timber?

Plastic saw blade guard? As long as the disc is rotating, I would then go out the door.

Just found an even crazier one, a drill/screwdriver adapter for an angle grinder. A screwdriver head running at 10,000 rpm, what could possibly go wrong?

It's a one-to-one copy. The original is from Makita (mini router) and I have installed it in my CNC. It's not terribly expensive, it's hardly worth buying a copy. And suddenly 700W becomes 800W because it's simply MORE.

It's dependant on blade diameter. There are 125mm saw blades rated 10 -13000 rpm, 185 - 254mm @ 7000 rpm. 5000 rpm seems 305mm territory. The tip speeds will be similar.

Sure, everyone clones the Makita, but what I liked was the blatantly obvious photoshop of the figures, they didn't even try and match the font or colour.

The nice thing about the better-made clones is that they're soft-start and variable speed so they don't kick every time you switch it on and you're not leaving scorch marks on composites due to excess spindle speed. For those it's definitely worth getting the Ali ones, they're a fraction of the price of name-brand ones, if you can even find those models in NZ.

The white power electric toothbrush. Braun really need to get someone to proofread/sanity-check their marketing before it goes out.
