I worked with a person who had a T-Shirt and Coffee Mug with:

"Normal People Annoy Me!" printed on them.

Fred99:

Oh no! (several months later).

Phone rang a few minutes ago and I answered it.

Same voice asks "Hello, is Dawn there?".

Update (several more months later).

She's still in the loony bin, doesn't sound any better, still hasn't got Dawn's number.

Have you tried actually talking with her? No, sorry, Dawn isn't here at the moment, can I do anything for you? What is your name?

The fact that a few years ago we were shafted by a guy who said he could re-lay pavers for us and then wasted our time for 6 months laying 1-2 tiles every few days, very *very* badly.

One of the meetings with him, we suggested that the effort he was going to, trying to scam us, was less than the effort it would take to get on youtube and learn to do it properly.

We wanted some more pavers layed in a different part of the outdoors, and my brother in law did it for us, after watching a couple of videos. He said it took him 2 hours to learn in total, and 2 hours of mucking around and it looks FANTASTIC.

I did last night.  She thought I was "Michael" who I assume lives with "Dawn".
If you want to give it a try, PM me your phone number, I'll give it to her next time she calls (I'm only kidding).

Actually to be fair, this doesn't "really" annoy me - it's kind of amusing but sad.  One very odd call at 3 month intervals, vs hundreds of unwanted calls from numerous scammers and hucksters spruiking everything from donations to fictitious charities, cures for my leaking computer files, "can't lose" investment opportunities, and a family member with a gambling issue asking for a loan.

Speaking of annoying phone calls, I get about 3-4 a week. The CID is always an overseas number, from a Country Code I don't normally get legitimate calls from, there is always a gap between me picking up, and them talking, then it is the same sales patter, and they want to send me a free, yes FREE, white paper on some internet security or router products (they usually have my name, and number and know I work in IT, so they are not a completely random call).

A very quick "Thanks, I'm not interested" and hang up ends the call. Sometimes they call straight back thinking we accidentally disconnected. Most times, not.

I just had one with caller ID 00612854798** (last two digits shown in caller ID).

It's not a number I know, I get the calls fairly regularly and - I do pick up because I know a lot of people in Sydney.

Always the same, a recorded voice says "call ending" and hangs up.

This one actually bothers me a bit, it seems as it's not (AFAIK) the "callback" scam, as the call will ring enough times to go to answer if I don't pick up and it seems to be a (probably spoofed) Sydney landline. (The callback scams usually only rings once then hangs up).  It seems pointless, but the fact that someone's doing it suggests not - they have a reason.

We have had  some calls recently where the caller hangs up as soon as I answer, but lets it ring until I do. We don't have caller ID so I have no idea where they are coming from.

SATA cables. I can't believe the amount of grief these stupid things have caused me. Nearly burned my house down, months of chasing phantoms due to intermittent connection problems, unreliable, flimsy, crappy - give me good solid old-fashioned IDE any day. Why fix it if it ain't broke?

I'll take SATA over IDE every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Feel free to go back to IDE HDD's if you wish :)

I use both. They work the same for my purposes, except for the stupid SATA cables.
