I've watched the first three episodes of Red Dwarf season 11 on Dave.  As a huge, long time fan, I've actually been really enjoying this season.  Last year's resurrection on Dave was a lot better than I was expecting, given how much time had passed since the golden era of the early 1990s.  Watching Season 10, I was put off a little bit by how silly and sometimes forced it seemed, but then I realised that it had always been silly (duh!), and that it was actually reasonably close to the early seasons in tone.  Season 11 continues down this path, but the stories are a lot more refined and tighter than season 10.

The season opener was a great little story about an earth where technology is prohibited in a Prohibition-era America kind of way.  People meet in speakeasy's to do "science" and stuff like that.  It was the first time I laughed out loud (and not just a slight smirk) at a TV show in a long time.

In episode 2 the crew find a ship fitted with something called a Karma Drive, a fun concept wherein positive actions alter reality to reward people.  I'll leave it to you to ponder what happens when the Boys from the Dwarf find it...

Episode 3, which we watched on Sunday night, involves them finding a highly sophisticated medical droid, the removal of two kidneys, and Lister depending on the altruism of the Cat.

I love this show.  It has always been my number one favourite program of all time, and it's great to see new episodes after all this time (and after the nightmare that was season 8)

Yes I watched Ep 1 of series 11 last nite.  Was quite good.  Missed series 10 but I see that QuickFlix has it  @$3.75 / ep..

Not sure it quite counts as a TV series per se, but watched Louis Theroux - Savile last night (back to back with a re-watch of "When Louis met Jimmy" from 2000). Undoubtedly his finest work. An excellent mix of very shocking and sobering testimonies, but also counterbalanced with a couple of equally arresting viewpoints bathed in blind "optimism" and a refusal to see Savile for the monster he clearly was. Best of all was the feeling that this doco was a catharsis of sorts for Theroux, after 5 or so years of guilt on his part for not seeing beyond the smoke and mirrors. Genius.

In no particular order

  • Stranger Things
  • Mr. Robot S2
  • Narcos S2
  • American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson
  • The Night Manager
  • House of Cards S4
  • Silicon Valley S3
  • O.J. Made In America
  • Vice Principals

I only have 9 shows so far, I'm stuck on what would make the tenth show. I also have shows I have to catch up on that could cause the list to change.

If you've never seen The Shield, do yourself a favour and make that number 10 on the list!  :)

Person of Interest was back on One last night.

It's been so long since the last episode that it took me about half of this one to get my head straight as to what was going on. Not the best start to a season ever, to be honest. Muddled and a bit confused, we felt.

Just finished Peaky Blinders season 3. Have to say that it was nowhere near as good as the first 2 seasons.

Wow that's taken awhile, 5 months from US air date.

Watching the first episodes of Designated Survivor on Netflix and it's a good 8/10 so far.

Zippity:

Have recently watched the first two series of The Fall on Netflix.

Series 3 starts on Soho on Tuesday.

A brilliant series.

From Wiki:

The Fall is a British drama series produced by Artists Studio and created by Alan Cubitt. It premiered in the Republic of Ireland at 9.30pm on 12 May 2013, and in the UK on BBC Two at 9pm on 13 May 2013.[1] The series stars Gillian Anderson as Stella Gibson, a senior Metropolitan Police Detective, Jamie Dornan as Paul Spector, a serial killer who terrorises Belfast, John Lynch as Assistant Chief Constable Jim Burns, and Archie Panjabi as Reed Smith, an esteemed pathologist.

Agreed.  Just watched the first two episodes of season 3 on the BBC Iplayer. Excellent stuff.

Also the Americans is good although the wife is going off it.  Have stopped watching the latest season of Suits for now as it was getting a bit tiresome.

I'm halfway through Stranger Things. A bit scarier than I would normally choose to watch, but I am riveted. As an 80's teenager, I am loving the Goonies/Lost Boys/Twin Peaks vibe, and Winona Ryder is fantastic in a really unglamorous role. No spoilers, please!

I am enjoying Designated Survivor. Has some potential. I'd prefer Sutherland did another 24 :)

I have been enjoying the new series of Red Dwarf (uktvplay) - its like it never went away.

I actually laugh out loud at some of it!

The Fall is very good - but I think they have milked that plotline a bit too long.

im surprised im enjoying Lethal Weapon, some great action scenes for a tv show and at least they have kept the tone of the movies intact.
