freitasm: @eracode fixed the previous post for you. It is a breach of FUG to use funny names for companies. It is not acceptable here.

My sincere apologies - thought I had seen that on here previously.

And the ones we see we change. If someone has done before it is not an allowance for the FUG to be ignored.

Trying to get a $30 Cash Back from Nespresso/Nestlé on a coffee machine bought from Harvey Norman.

Getting a right royal run-around and getting extremely pissed off with being fobbed off time and time again.

Been /still there, doing that! - Cashback still pending!

Took 4 phone calls to Nespresso over 3 weeks. Last phone call resulted in escalation to Sydney ... who phoned back (31 December).... and coffee credit was applied 15 minutes later.

Cashback - STILL WAITING! (Claim accepted 30 NOVEMBER!)

Moral of the story:

DON'T buy a Nespresso Machine BASED on getting anything back!

(I have no problem with the machines - just getting anything promised back!)

Also, sad as it may sound - I'm glad I'm not the only one having hassles! I thought it was just me!

(Also bought from Harvey Norman)

Despite four phone calls to them - I have still not even received their promised email acknowledgment of receiving my claim.

Right now I'm waiting for them to call me this afternoon as promised. I not expecting to hear from them.

If I haven't heard from them by early next week, I'm going to pack up the machine and all my documentation, go to their head office in Parnell and ask for service.

This is the strategy I was advocating in the recent long thread about CGA and a Surface bought from Warehouse Stationery. Different circumstances but still just a customer service issue.

Removed the just!

There is NO excuse for "Customer Service" NOT doing their job!

It is NOT Customer Service if THE Customer doesn't get any!

If you can't do something - don't fob a customer off - own the problem until someone higher up actually takes ownership!

People who drive really close behind you when you are going up hill as though their mere presence there can magically give my car more power to get up the hill faster!

what car are you driving and how steep is the hill that you cant do the speed limit up it and if you cant why cant you move to the left and let people pass.

Haha. People that drive right up behind you when they can't pass and you can't pull over for them, you're doing the speed limit, and they WONT pass you when they have 300m of clear road ahead in front of them (and tend to back off?) -- or ones that wait until there are double yellow lines or someone coming the other way less than 50m before they do pass.

Also people that tailgate when there is a long line of traffic in front of you
Bring on roadside drug testing

The media hype over the opening of a furniture shop.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

My pet peeves of the moment

Couriers that update with "no one at home" when they never turn up, often resulting in you having to go to the depot to pickup - on occasion I've had them admit they do this also if they are not in the area or don't have room in their van. Seems like one that might be a reasonable undercover media story one day.

Bunning's checkouts - extremely slow and inefficient POS systems. also the security check and old fashioned stamping of the receipt at the door is somewhat archaic.

Advertising a sale when not a sale, on my drive home there has been a sign up outside a business - put out every day with Sale (you can see it on Street view going back nearly 4 years)

In general, people that tailgate. No need for that. You are not getting from A to B any quicker rubbing up on my bumper.

I am dreaming of having a text display in the back of my car, and a couple of flood lights.

First they get the warning to "Please keep distance", then they get the flood lights...

I'm hoping Auckland house prices drop towards something realistic this year as I think I'm ready to buy a property of my own. And I don't mean "$10 000 off a $4 000 000 house!" the media constantly harps on about like it's a crowning achievement - a decent drop (think of nearer to $100 000 or more) would make it closer to being "within reach" for me.

House prices this year are expected to reach record highs, apparently.

Stick it in, stick it in. Time to change the record, methinks. Or maybe get a new parrot.

(Not so) small annoyance: professional illiteracy. Today there is a big banner headline in our local paper about "Our scorching(!) ocean". I do wish newpaper editors, if there still are any, would teach the school drop-outs they hire as cheap journalists how on-line dictionaries work. I have seen this particular malapropism before. Scorch means to lightly burn something on the surface, as in char or sear. A steak or sausage can be scorched on the barbie. An ocean cannot. In fact, water is one of the antonyms for scorch. Why do I feel I am shouting into the wilderness?

Mac OS' insistence on spinning up all drives every time I go to "Save As". I have four non-SSDs in my system and doing a Save As makes the machine stall for ~10 seconds. Why not wait until I actually click one of the drives before spinning it up?
