Taking better care of my health which has led to getting into new things. Currently in a massive sourdough phase and loving it. Trying the Volare Grain Sourdough at the moment. Goes great with a cuppa tea.

I have been doing really well since just after Xmas and have managed to play squash, on average, every second day since 27th of December. I am feeling as fit as I can remember and have managed to stay largely pain and injury free.  Last week I was pulled in to play 3 nights in a row and ended up playing doubles, 3 matches back to back and after the second game felt searing pain in my left knee. I could walk, but retired from the match.

I was absolutely gutted and feeling discouraged. 5 days later with some rest, I played lightly today to see where things were at and played pain free, and without impediment. Looks like it was not serious. Now to do some strengthing excercises and thank my lucky stars!

I am also up 30% for the last 10 weeks on steps! Woot.

Ah, OK I misread that. I thought you were MAKING sourdough.

Try this if you haven't already.

https://dailybread.co.nz/products/spelt-sesame-loaf

It's my fav loaf by far.  If you want next level garlic bread, take a garlic clove and smash it a bit. Toast the sliced bread in the oven. Rub the garlic over it, drizzle olive oil over it, and some flaky sea salt. Enjoy.

Once you try that, it will ruin you for anything else :)

Following the 24 hours that destroyed our garden our neighbour came over this morning and cleared away the five trees that had been blown down, staked some fo the damaged roses and cleared away the destroyed roses.  Above and beyond and I can never fully thank him what he did for me as there was no way in hell that I could have done the job. The kind hearts of people never ceases to please and humble me.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

I love sourdough and Daily Bread's sourdoughs in particular.

Does this sesame loaf have giant voids in it?

That was a Daily Bread 'Pioneer' loaf - but I gave up buying it because of the voids. Their loaves are expensive and I want to pay for bread, not air.

I should put in the [Annoy] thread about my dislike of sourdough.

Sourdough is too... sour. And usually too chewy. I like baguettes with a crunchy outside, fluffy inside. Salt, water, yeast. Done.

Aha - as much as I love sourdough, I love a great baguette even more. Quite hard to find great ones here - but en France, oh la la.

Daily Bread make a sourdough baguette - that's pretty damn good.

Yes, it has some holes (Which I believe is termed as the 'tightness of the crumb'), but it's nowhere near as big as that, it's a nice loaf, but it definitely does have lots of smaller holes.

I'd give it a go.

Every. Single. Baguette. in Wellington seem to be sourdough. Again, I should post this in the [Annoy] thread.

I used to eat a LOT of bread and like most types, but sadly since going on my diet late last year I don't get to indulge often.
Sourdough is nice, but a proper French baguette? mmmmmmmmmmmmm...

There was a French Bakehouse in Takapuna when I was a younger human and it was a family tradition to order two baguettes for Sunday (or was it Saturday?) lunch.

I've not tasted a baguette that has ever captured the remembered flavour, other than in France and Noumea.

Those memories make me smile.

I'm not going to comment on that. 🙂 Except that ciabatta uses sourdough AND yeast. 😉
