There’s an information night next Wednesday in a local cafe where I’ll be able to find out more.

That there is now a smallish chance that I might have UFB installed by the time the RWC starts. I'll be over the moon.

Me too. If you mean the RWC in 20 years' time.

That at the end of the month, my wife and I will have been married for 13 years. In the modern world, I take some pride in that.

And I in 41 years.

Good job. I was 11 when you got married!

Visiting a rural house in Kaiwaka, and finding a Chorus ONT on the wall. Despite there being no UFB anywhere near that area.

Turned out that the house used to be in Takapuna. And the house moving company or the previous owner never arranged with Chorus to have the ONT removed.

Oh well, I guess that they sort of complied with the notice that is printed on the ONT which says “please dont remove from the property”. And the internal install is already done. When UFB arrives in 20 years or so.

When a sales rep at work comes to you because there is an issue with a feed from a third party, wants you to urgently fix it, can see notes from engineering they have seen data flowing and it working previous day.
Put a ticket to engineering to say it isn't working or ask how to make it work as we see nothing.

Get an email response from engineering CC'ing every manager saying the rep deleted the API feed, then went on to complain about how it does work and make it urgent and completely failed to mention he effed it up himself.

A little bit of knowledge is dangerous...

Rain! (Finally)

Obviously thanks to the MetService.

From their radar page for Canterbury:

"Our Canterbury radar is undergoing maintenance from Thursday 28 February for approximately three weeks. The radar will be offline while scaffolding and painting works take place. During this time our website will display a composite image of nearby radars, but accuracy will be reduced for the Canterbury area."

Nothing showing on the "composite image" for Christchurch, but over 13mm since midnight, and more predicted :-)

We have water restrictions here in Christchurch, so the rain is most welcome.

Made myself last weekend. After spending a prior weekend at meatstock, I am pretty proud to say mine were the 2nd best ribs I have ever had :)
