afe66: I can deal with the odd bang of a nail gun and sawing some wood but it's the loud German death metal coming out of the speakers that annoys me on a Saturday morning.
As they are living on site next door, I get building noise 6 days a week then loud bbq party noise with more music and sound of bottles being thrown into rubbish bins on Sunday.
And of course the owners live in a totally different part of town so know nothing.
Are they playing Rammstein? They are releasing singles with a new album coming out in May.. Best get ready 😉

I thought I was missing something in the meaning of it, but I'm glad that it's not just me that has an issue with it. It's always just sounded wrong.

Geektastic: The fact that I'm in Mt Cook and it's cold and raining with low vis!
South Island or Wellington?

Doing up a Photobook on Snapfish before realising that Snapfish thought I was in the US, and changing to NZ wipes the book. The US version was still there, but I'm not going to pay $41 US freight to get it here.
I had to start again.
This one's my own fault (and is a little technical).
I was poking around in a bug database and saw a report for "this particular paid app crashes when I do X using the latest beta of the SCSI driver". Since I have that app, and have a SCSI machine, I decided to try it myself and see whether I could replicate it. But I didn't get that far. I tried loading the beta driver from the desktop and it made the hard drive disappear. OK, fine. "I must have to load it before the desktop starts", I think to myself. So I put it into the "PreDesk" folder so that it loads before the desktop. Reboot and get "no disk found". Wonderful. Now the desktop doesn't load at all, and I can't see the hard drive from the command line. By extension I can't delete the beta driver.
Fortunately I did manage to fix it in the end!

We have all been there. I remember being unable to install my new copy of Windows several years ago because it needed a driver in autoexec.bat that was on the CD that couldn't be read without the driver. This was pre-Internet so there was no other way to get it. Eventually I worked out a way to read the CD from DOS. I don't recall the exact details anymore but it had me going in circles for quite awhile.
