I wish Gumtree was more popular than trademe, Craiglist is very good too and Leboncoin in France (awesome service for free). Gumtree in Australia was working well when I was there. Trademe obviously abuse of their monopoly, way overpriced and for the few experiences I had, can only comment on the poor customer service. (and specially if you relate it with their fees.)
