Not sure what I did there, but it was not meant to be hurtful in any way.

It is not malicious but it is a figure of speech that adds nothing to a sentence. It is just annoying like people putting LOL at the end of every sentence even if not funny.

Ahem.

freitasm: It is not malicious but it is a figure of speech that adds nothing to a sentence.

However, if a particular usage was intended to have meaning then it could be either positive or negative depending on wider context.

freitasm: It is just annoying like people putting LOL at the end of every sentence even if not funny.

With LOL - it has function (examples) even if it has started to lose literal meaning in some contexts.

Just an update on this. Still have not seen my refund in my account this morning. I was told by the store manager that their refunds are processed on Wednesday so expect it today or in case if it is missed, then next week. I am kind of in need of the money asap ($1500 is quite a bit of money!) and getting tired of so much running around. I was planning to call the store manager and get an update and see why is it taking so long to refund me the money. They have had my payment since 1st July.

My opinion is they've had their chance, contact your credit card company immediately and have them reverse the charges. Only processing their refunds every Wednesday sounds like BS to me.

a refund for something paid by credit card should be returned by credit card as a refund. They are delaying this needlessly and it reeks of desperation.

I have seen this a/c refund for a cc transaction occur before in retail and I do not fully understand it. Surely reversing a CC transaction would refund the CC commission charge also and therefore it is an advantage to do so. Unless CC processors are concerned about that being an underhand method for retailers to take out interest free loans temporarily? : ). Perhaps the refund process is actually costly and for this reason, making a/c refund a better option for the retailer?

Offtopic, I have never yet seen a pos terminal with refunds enabled. I assume it is a security/fraud risk.

Yes, there would be cause to worry if they missed the next Wednesday. But so far it just looks like a company where store managers have no discretion over some processes, leading to bad customer service.

It seems you accepted the 'expect it today or in case if it is missed, then next week' part without objection. Calling the store manager will be pointless. He will advise you it will occur this Wednesday and will probably remind you that this is what you had accepted as the resolution.

Since you did agree to this, I suggest you wait and allow them to fulfill the commitment as agreed.

I think all EFTPOS terminals are able to do refunds, you just need a managers card to do them.

I think it requires a card and the refunds functionality enabled on the terminal. Cards can be used for other management functions iirc. Refund is only one. Hey we might both be right about this ; ).

I know a little about this (although, not from NZ) and when reversing a CC charge we still had to pay the transaction fees on the transaction. So refunding by credit card or bank account would be the same price. But to keep it simple it is better for the merchant to refund from the CC system, so that its all kept in one place/system.

My experience is that if you want something done, its usually more effective to be on someones back. That said, I don't think I would have accepted "or next week" and demanded a promise of having it on the wednesday if I was the OP.

Some CC companies charge a fee, like $50 for chargebacks, so that should be a last resort. Just email them asking what is going on, as you expected it in your account. You could also say that you will need to charge interest if they don't process it ASAP.

Ahh finally. After quite a few phone calls back and forth and lots of emails, managed to get the refund sorted. Full amount refunded to me to day. Ahh. Quite relieved. Thanks all for the advice given.
