When you can't get google to limit results to New Zealand like you used to be able to do.

The advanced search options don't seem to work, and putting nz in the search bar doesn't always help either.

And listing an exact match to your search string multiple pages in!

With a pile of non-exact matches first.

I have never seen the 'site:.nz' option not work (limits results to domains ending in .nz). Is this what you mean?

possibly, I haven't typed that in before.

Back in the day you could pick results from NZ only.

Now you get some advert results first, and then if you use the search options to say country New Zealand only you still get a bunch of overseas sites.

site:.nz sounds good, I'm just saying it used to effectively do that early on via a location selection, but it's watered down now.

Some keywords are fine, but others return international results despite the filter being applied.

People who just scatter-post the reply "first world problems" into random threads, when someone is asking a bona-fide question of grappling with a bona-fide issue, on this and other boards.

Almost, by implication, they seem to be objecting to anyone discussing anything that isn't related to poverty or malnutrition - in car, home theatre, or other specialist boards/threads.

I'm always tempted to reply with "And your point is?", but I don't want to side-track the relevant thread even further.

If someone posts a question about (say) their computer not starting up properly, into an "issues with computers" board/thread - what is the point of chipping and just telling them it's a first world problem? If they wanted to discuss a third world problem, like starvation, malaria or Rickets, then they would be in a different forum.

Yes. I live in the first world. That is where my problems exist. This fact does not detract from people who live elsewhere and also have problems and the fact that they do does not detract from my problems.

When I select open link in a new tab on the iPad, the focus stays on the page I'm reading.
On the iPhone it moves to that new tab and I have to swap back to the tab/page I was reading previously.

I almost always use "open in background"; I just wish that it could be made the default!
