Once all the 2012 Corollas and the older and newer ICE's are all updated with brand new Tesla's it will be good

Thankfully Nissan is really the only one not using active thermal technology in their new cars so one doesn't need to buy a brand new Tesla to get that longevity 😉

Defending against everyone that makes any negative, or teeny bit negative comment on an EV or a teeny positive point re an ICE, incessantly, does strike me as defensive. Re salesperson, you would be good at it, just asking, thats all.

As to facts, unsure which facts you are referring to. Although over time, your facts seem to be more opinion based IMO. As to the Leaf not having thermal management measures, yes that is a fact, no one disputes that. Unsure why you kept recommending I get one (when I was on the lookout for a small car for golf a while back)

Ive seen a number of posts where the subject matter is subjective, yet your reply was passed off as factual. To be fair, the opposing view was also bound by the same subjectiveness, but at the end of the day its always came back to the same bias banging away.

Second hand Leaf, quoted AKL prices. But you arent the only one to recommend a second hand Leaf. Farther back, with the Kona comments I'd make

Too late to stop what is coming down.

Why?
1: Western Nations too slow to implement the require changes in time; sheesh by 2050, way too late!
2: Developing Nations too busy trying to lift their people out of poverty and other more immediate problems
3: Changes are now observable on global scale: Tipping points? Extreme Weather, Faster melting, Ecological extinctions, etc.

Here is what is likely coming over the next few decades;

1: Population / Consumer / Business growth exceeding available and reducing resources causing;
--- famines (ongoing in too many places now)
--- conflicts (Syria is just the beginning)
--- water shortages -- e.g. glaciers melting fast affecting billions of people
--- continued poverty
--- causing climate change
2: Climate Change causing
--- reduced resources affecting as above
--- more frequent extreme weather events; droughts, heatwaves, storms, etc.
--- ecological extinctions (6th mass extinction) -- e.g. fishing grounds disappearing
--- rising sea levels
--- mass migrations
--- ... and probably more besides.
3: Societal breakdown causing
--- increasing poverty
--- increasing anger towards migrants
--- more crime, violence, etc.
--- conflicts (internal, external, both at the same time)
--- collapsing industries dependent on ecological resources
--- economic collapse

I could go on, but you get the picture.

The problem is that predicting climate change effects along with climate change mitigations are all along the lines of a 'wicked problem'. A 'wicked problem' is one in which there is insufficient data to solve and will require multiple part solutions to work through by consultation and negotiation.

All this maybe true, but it does not mean you need to give up doing any action, because any action will reduce some of the above impacts and we need to continue to discuss, negotiate and agree continually for many decades.

Essentially there is no quick fix to this problem.

Well said. We will take action, but that will be when we HAVE to, not when we SHOULD do. Its like a car that needs decent maintenance. Cheaper now than to do later, but its more cash cost right now, so we only look at what hurts now, and bury our heads in the sand for later.

All this sort of thing is what James Lovelock has been saying for many many years now. 14 Years ago he proposed that our species had gone beyond the point of sustainable development and needed to move into a phase of sustainable retreat. The 'sustainable' part refers to a structured way of doing things in order to avoid regressing into a Dark Age style of living.

There's a lengthy article about him written last year on the New Statesman website where, amongst other things, it alludes to how long he's been talking about climate change by saying:

In 1965, he told a group of Shell executives that by the year 2000, climate change would be their biggest problem. In 2008, he said there was nothing we could do about it. In 2014, he advised moving to more habitable bits of the Earth. Recycling, he told the Guardian, was “almost certainly a waste of time and energy”; a green lifestyle was “ostentatious grand gestures”. Our biggest sin was the atom bomb – because it put us off nuclear energy, the safest source. Pollution? He lived through Brixton in the Thirties!
