The ballache that is windows OEM editions. You get an laptop with a COA but the COA is invalid for anything other than the OEM disk which of course is not available to download from the manufacturer's site.

Why make it so hard for your customers?

Geektastic:

Mainland Tasty in the supermarket today.

500g - $10

750g - $15.90

1000g - $15.00

Hmm. Let me think about that for a while...

$12.99 @ PaknSav .... any other "tasty ceddar cheese" is fairly bland.

Weird that cheese is cheaper @ PnS, but butter is cheaper @ Countdown.

Pretty sure Windows 10 has done away with that particular ballache.

I don't do windows reinstalls much any more (used to do them heaps, so I know your pain), but every one I have done recently has been a piece of cake with the Windows 10 USB I've downloaded from Microsoft.

Last one was on a four year old Dell Gaming laptop, that had had Win8 on it out of the factory. 10 installed onto a new SSD, no issues - activated and done.

I'm using Win7 on older hardware which was a bit anaemic then let alone now.

Also..weird the implication in Tasty cheese that all other cheeses are not tasty...! That particular designation is antipodean - I have only ever seen it in NZ and Australia. I wonder where it came from.

From Wikipedia:

Australia

As of 2013, Cheddar accounts for over 55% of the Australian cheese market, with average annual consumption around 7.5 kg (17 lb) per person. Cheddar is so commonly found that the name is rarely used: instead, Cheddar is sold by strength alone as e.g. "mild", "tasty" or "sharp"

Yes but that quote refers specifically to Australia.

I was wondering how what is sold as Mature or Extra Mature in Europe and the USA ended up with the name Tasty down here. Must be a story there somewhere.

Use of the word 'front' as a verb, as in 'the coach fronted at a media conference.'

I'm all for new words if they fill gaps that previously existed in language but what is so wrong with 'appeared' ?

I'm going to guess a vehicle with a license plate starting CR; i.e. a "crown car", part of the parliamentary fleet.

They should know better!

Self-checkout terminal froze when I'd scanned a trolley full of groceries and hit "pay now".  Self-checkout supervisor tells me that they do that sometimes and there are two options, wait (I did for several minutes - it remained frozen) or reset the terminal, which would lose the entire transaction and I'd need to pull everything out of the bags I'd packed and scan the lot again.  There was another option - say "your problem" and just walk out without groceries.

I note that Woollies Aus use the same self-checkout system, but they seem to roll out software updates in NZ first, which is rather annoying. Maybe it's Aussies who annoy me.
