I rarely watch free to air, but Im watching the 7 year switch show or whatever its called.

And this stupid show called "Boss Babes" keeps popping up. For god sake stopping pouting. The only way someone at 20 odd becomes a Boss is by inheriting a lot of money to start a business or to inherit a profitable business. The show advert makes me cringe. A world full of Millennials, we are doomed.......

We're past millennials now, they're approaching their 30's. The age group you're referring to are now called Gen Z. And you thought millennials were an entitled generation!

OMG, I thought MAD was now never going to happen due to the US not knowing who its enemy is, but this could be a game changer.

That says they are realistic and financially frugal, OMG Im more aggrevated. haha.

I applaud anyone who goes out and truely earns paper and sets goals to achieve it, but that add was not realistic of financially frugal. Oh gee, maybe I got it wrong and its the TV shows fault for portraying them in a self entitled light like you said. haha.

GRRRRRRR, No Add blocker for the Xbox ;-p

If they can transport (halfway round the planet) and refine oil into fuel in mere hours, why does it take so long to travel by plane?  I think we all need to start travelling by tanker since they are clearly a whole lot faster than anything else on the planet.

The explanation I heard once (and it's not entirely unreasonable, but it's also not entirely reasonable either!) is that they charge you the price it's going to cost them to replace the fuel you've just purchased.

Yeah, but when the price drops they don't drop it until the cheaper petrol hits the pumps. It's their inconsistency that irks.

Some truth in that, Free University, want their Pension at 65 but want us X'rs to suck it up at 67 when they are well and dead. Yet instead of listening to Gareth Morgan and Assett testing these rich ..... who publicly announce the mockery of how it is to be a multi millionaire and receive $350~ PW of tax payers Fiscal budget. Instead of Assett testing as suggested by a rich as guy who doesnt claim the benefit. they want us to accept some insane plan to take on lots of immigrants who will take away jobs from X'rs (and below) and create 100000 kiwi homes which luckily they have now scrapped 400 odd houses in lol, because these reugees wont be able to afford the mortgage and with NZ the #1 most likely country to have a major Real Estate crash (which is already started in Auck and coming to a theatre near you via a wave pattern) and the current state of world economy and simply how our real estate looks over valued in every graph and we have personal lending and real estate lending combined to 150% GDP (when really all we sell meat and butter and tourism), it makes the whole concept look like idiocy. Who came up with the idea of increasing immigrants and building "Kiwi" homes? How the heck is any body non self entitled supposed to afford an $800k mortgage even at 4%? Back to the worst price to income ratio in the world.

Back to these Boss kids, I think he was meaning self entitled without the entitled bit, as in unlike baby boomers who did get given it all, these kids are not but are making out like they have.

Thanks mate, that just let me purge a whole lot of small things that are annoying me. :-)

Is the cost of means-testing less than the cost of providing super to everyone?

I guess you could be thankful it's not still around the 23% mark as it was in the early 1980's

I doubt it's (relative to super payments) very high - but the major issue with means testing is that "the wealthy" have always been exceptionally well advised on methods to hide wealth, governments are averse to seriously cracking down on it, and all means testing would probably achieve is to shift the threshold downward so the the moderately well off and just average would do whatever to evade means testing.

As for increasing the super age to 67, I'm a (tail end) "boomer" and would strongly advise younger folks to absolutely reject it.  Life expectancy may have increased (but may have peaked due to various reasons), but for many people due to all kinds of health and other issues, working to 65 is a huge enough challenge already.

And stop blaming "boomers" for your woes - while embracing the benefits of living in a world that's a damned sight better in most ways than the one boomers were born into.

Well, that attitude becomes self-fulfilling prophecy.

It's - at least in part - a notion exploited by targetted marketing, reinforcing prejudice because they want you to believe you're "special".

Reject that, and you'll probably be happier and feel less need to blame others.
