eracode: @floydbloke Quote: “And don't get me started on starting sentences with conjunctions”.

And ending sentences with prepositions is something up with which I will not put.

My friends Girlfriend constantly corrects me (and everyone else) and it's quite the cause of friction. I used to be quite good with English at school, but over time it's diminished somewhat and whilst I respect your and her desire to be grammatically correct, I find it borders on rude to correct other people who haven't asked for assistance with their grammar.

It doesn't bother me all that much to be honest, unless it's a formal document or a publication of some sort, or when people are just being lazy like using txt-speak. I also appreciate that different people have different abilities.

When I do make comments or corrections on people's posts on forums or social media it's usually just because I like to wind them up.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

You're welcome.

My friends Girlfriend constantly...

What really annoys me is people that capitalise words that don't need to be.

Trying to view or add comments on the stuff website on a mobile.
Those ads keep cropping up and closing the comments section.

It's so bad I'm almost considering not paying for the service...

Reminds me of a conversation in the office in Wellington when I worked there.

Two colleagues arguing over something not being correct English.

I walked over and said "As the only person in the office who actually speaks English, perhaps I can help?"

When CCC Candidates don't even know the road rules!

Park in an empty part of the street while campaigning in a billboard light truck on the WRONG side of the road!

And when challenged about their parking, argue that "it is legal"!

Well, that is one off my list of candidates!

Warning - unknown acronym, sorry, initialisation alert: What is CCC?

Edit: Thanks for response.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Heh, that's a long left over side effect of my days as a programmer. I do often catch it, but that time I missed it :)

Haha, did you, by chance, end up stuffed in lockers a lot as a kid? :)

"Perhaps I can help" is a statement, not a question, and therefore shouldn't have a question mark.

IMDB ratings, somehow they are being faked on some really terrible movies.

Which is why it pays to read more than one comment (some of which are also fake)

Yes, or at least the equivalent!

I learned eventually that what seem like helpful responses to me are not sometimes taken as such by people who don't know me well.

Actually, it's arguably both depending on intonation when spoken or punctuation when written....
