I'm sure it's been mentioned before but fast food restaurants that give you different order numbers...

You place an order at their kiosk and you get the message: "Thank you, your order number is '47'".

The same kiosk prints a ticket out with the order number as '5147'.

The store screen displays your order number as '147' and when your food is ready, the employee calls out "147" and provides your meal with a printed ticket attached, number '147'.

Choose a number!

I guess it’s only a problem if you’re 147 and 47 or 5147 make off with your food.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Stupid moron of a labour candidate using phone spam to promote herself for the local elections.

The recording twice said who she was but not who funded it - isn’t that a requirement? Maybe not for local? Is it a legit way of spamvertising?

Unfortunately those flyers are not actually spam - they’re informal, the same as your local free rag. I have a no junk mail sticker on my letterbox and unfortunately there’s a couple of really young kids that are delivering it and I just think oh well good on em for for earning some coin.

I had the same crap from a stupid moron of a National candidate in the last national election. I think he said his name was Bill English. If I hadn't already decided anyone but him, that extremely irritating uninvited home invasion would have made up my mind.

A colleague volunteered with one of the aspirant politicians a couple of years ago. They were told to ignore no junk mail signs. I’ve always considered that to be a way of telling me which one won’t listen to constituents.
No Unaddressed Mail might make a difference but if the person posting it still considers it to be informative then so can the person posting supermarket flyers.

28 Unaddressed mail (1) No person may deposit, cause, permit or authorise the deposit of any unaddressed mail, advertising material, community newspapers, clothing donations bags, circulars, leaflets, brochures, samples or flyers in any letterbox which is clearly marked “addressed mail only”. (2) Subclause (1) does not apply to: (a) public notices from government bodies, local authorities or New Zealand Post; (b) election material during the period beginning two months before polling day and ending with the close of the day before polling day. (3) No person may deposit, cause, permit or authorise the deposit of any advertising material, clothing donations bags, circulars, leaflets, brochures, samples or flyers: (a) in any letterbox which is clearly marked “no circulars”, “no junk mail”, or words with similar effect; (b) on a vehicle parked in a public place; (c) in a letterbox in unsecured circumstances, if it is likely to escape and become litter. We have a PO Box in the village shop. Next to the PO Box, conveniently, are three recycling bins for paper etc....

Collect post, sift out any junk, toss in bin, leave!

I check out job classifieds internationally, just because you never know.

What annoys me is seeing job adverts posted on the Internet saying something like:

* "Are you looking at working closer to home? If so, this position is for you."

The kicker is these jobs are always

* well outside city centres

* don't mention anything about relocation help.

Another annoyance

* "looking for hard-working ..."

* "looking for skilled and enthusiastic ..."

* "must have exceptional customer service abilities."

Because we all know this prevents lazy unskilled and unenthusiastic people from applying.

Last annoyance:

* "Work with an innovative young team"

* "startup mentality"

This tells me I'll be working for low salaries, at long hours, under unrealistic deadlines, and the company could fold at any time after venture capital runs out, so make sure you're renting your home.

The reasons these practices continue unabated is because anyone who sees these statements either

* never applies

* or applies, and because they want a job, doesn't say anything.
