Popcorn is way too salty. In my youth you could specify how much salt and butter you wanted. Now everything is prefabricated.

That's the problem I have with low strength beers, I like things like Panhead's Supercharger, Emerson's Bird Dog etc, but low alcohol beers like Steiny Lite and Amstel light almost have no taste. I tend to just have a Coke if I'm thirsty and have to drive, or nurse a low strength one for the evening.
I agree about the low alcohol beers, I'd rather drink water.
Not sure about strong beers though, my threshold seems to be about 5%, over that the alcohol has an off taste IMO (yet I like wine @ 12-14%).
In the late '70s, the local near where I was working was the Mt Wellington Trust Tavern. NZB started delivering "Lion Super" (5% IIRC) on tap. Regulars were used to knocking back after work a couple or maybe 3 of jugs of Lion Red at 3%. This was about the same time that the breweries decided that for the safety of their patrons to switch from glass jugs to plastic.

Geektastic:
I went to the cinema in California last year with my nephew.
Popcorn was plain. Help yourself to melted butter and salt from the bench as you wish.
California is a long way to go for popcorn. Here it seems to be one size fits all.

Only 11 hours. Save it for when a couple of good movies are being released...!
The germs that are making me cough all the time at the moment. Those are small, but really annoy me.

There is a reason there is more choice there: About 10 x the population of NZ live in California.

Finally getting up out of the dentist's chair at 7:45pm after first laying back in it at just after 5 for what was meant to be a routine extraction. My head hurts, my jaw hurts and the tooth that isn't even there anymore hurts.
Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

And then the agony in your bank account starts...
kingdragonfly: Lots of things about going to movies in theatres.
I stopped going to movie theatres a few years ago because of all of the reasons you listed. I just watch at home now and enjoy no ads, cheap popcorn made the way I like it, and being able to pause the movie if I need to go to the bathroom.

This did cross my mind several times as I was lying there and the hours ticked by. I was actually pleasantly surprised, I got charged $350. Not sure they made any money on this gig given it was the dentist and his assistance working on me for a good part of 3 hours.. The receptionist was also still there when I left at 20:00.

Spotify!
What did you do to my made for you daily playlists.
They were all nicely curated based on the genre's I listen to most
Playlist 1: Australasian indie artists
Playlist 2: International indie artists
Playlist 3: Heavy guitar blues
Playlist 4: Alternative pop
Playlist 5: Acoustic folk
Wake up this morning and on the drive to work they're all mixed up like jumbled mess. Absolutely no sense to them now.
Why?

My daily mixes are not mixes anymore, just a playlist of 49 songs that runs out. On the app it now has a shuffle play button where it once said play on it.
Since they are playlists I can start a "radio" station based on the playlist which seems to work like before sort of in that it doesnt run out but FFS spotify.
