kingdragonfly: I hate driving long distances, on highway 1, North Island.

What makes it worse is the short three lanes passing sections.

You'll be doing 90K behind someone consistently, but then when a passing section comes up they do 110K, as you attempt to pass them.

When you look in the rear view mirror again, there back down to 90 K.

On the rare occasion I've try passing on a two lane road, at a dashed traffic line, about half the time they'll also speed up as soon as it obvious you're passing them, and again slowing down after you've passed them.

It's as if I'm offending their masculinity by passing them.
A driving instructor friend pointed out to me once that these drivers are often newbies or elderly.  You may find they also slow down with oncoming trucks for example.

Rikkitic:

There was an item in our local paper today about some youthful imbecile who hit a tree while trying to escape a police pursuit. Although he later admitted guilt, his initial response was to blame the police for causing the accident by chasing him! With that kind of impenetrable stupidity, how can there ever be any possible hope of changing driver behaviour?

That's the culture we live in now.  No personal responsibility needs to be taken as you can always find someone else to blame.

Also, passing lanes are usually safe, reasonably straight sections. The remainder of the road.... isn’t. Thus people will be inclined to speed up where they feel it is safer.

There should be a separate thread for gear grinders of the motoring kind.

Stupid Little Fights:

Her: What the best way to transfer files from the PC to the tab?
Me: USB, I find it much faster than airdroid
Her: [10 mins later holding up a USB stick] this doesn't fit into the tab's port!

Me: I meant use a USB cable!
Her: You didn't say cable. I thought you meant USB stick!
Me: I never said USB stick either
Her: #Daggers #cold_shoulder_for_rest_of_the_day

There's a kings army of ants - enough I'm sure for world domination coming from cracks in the firewall of a neighbours garage that backs onto our section. Over the years I've used many poisons.  I'm now flooding each crack one by one with silicon when they find a new way out.  I'm sure their garage will explode with ants when I finally block off all the exits.

You must follow this up.  In a few days when you think it's all cooled down tell her you think the USB mouse is broken cause you can't copy files to it anymore.

Be a better person, buy her an OTG adapter or a double ended memory stick (assuming that the tablet supports it).

Banks asking for information they already have in the guise of Anti Money Laundering rather than acknowledging that their systems suck.

I'm looking at you again TSB!

Only 2 weeks until I can leave their mom and pop operation for good.

About 10 different pieces of information including whether I will send and receive money to foreign countries. Given I live in the UAE (which they know because I have told them 5 times) I think they can work it out.

The most aggravating thing is if I ask any questions it's like talking to a black hole - "computer says no!"

Just to add on to this they asked me for a whole lot of documentation in March. After a bit of backwards and forwards I ignored them and they went away. Either their "systems" are useless and they forgot to follow up again or they were asking for information they didn't really need. Either way it's aggravating.

I get the AML stuff is necessary but when I left the country I wrote to them and told them we were leaving. I also asked if they needed any further information. I got told "no, it is fine, don't worry". Then 9 months later they were asking for a whole heap of information and couldn't tell me what had changed.
