kingdragonfly: I hate driving long distances, on highway 1, North Island.A driving instructor friend pointed out to me once that these drivers are often newbies or elderly. You may find they also slow down with oncoming trucks for example.
What makes it worse is the short three lanes passing sections.
You'll be doing 90K behind someone consistently, but then when a passing section comes up they do 110K, as you attempt to pass them.
When you look in the rear view mirror again, there back down to 90 K.
On the rare occasion I've try passing on a two lane road, at a dashed traffic line, about half the time they'll also speed up as soon as it obvious you're passing them, and again slowing down after you've passed them.
It's as if I'm offending their masculinity by passing them.
