You should see the ads I get on my work PC (400 staff, 1 IP address)!

This shouldn't be the problem - ads are more closely related to who is logged in a browser (assuming Chrome), previous cookies, browser fingerprint, search history, etc. IP address is a minor signal in this whole thing so shared IP addresses shouldn't influence what ads you see.

Meanwhile, the bad website du jour is Pizza Hut - the site has been redesigned since I last used it. They clearly haven't read "Falsehoods programmers believe about names" because it has separate mandatory fields for first and last names (what if you only have one?) and a required field for a cellphone number (although it may be possible to enter a landline number into it).
At the bottom of the form is a big green button labelled "Go To Payment"... despite selecting that I'll pay when I pick it up.

Is it normal for people in NZ to only have a first or last name, not both?!

Who is it that dont have a cellphone in NZ?!

That is stupid, I give you that.

Whether it's "normal" is irrelevant; it should handle it (e.g. a single "full name" field). I know two people that have a single name.

So the site should perhaps also show the menu in Maori? Chinese, Indian etc? (Yes I know the two latter have several languages per country).
Its probably a more common occurrence for the customers to be in either of those 3 groups than having a single name.
You can't expect the site to cater for the few people that don't have a first and last name.

Yes, you are an outlier. Good on you.
If that was my site (the Pizza Hut site) I would (have on other sites) ask for the cellphone number, because you want to encourage the customer to leave the cellphone number, because most people are easier reached by the cellphone number than their landline, but would still allow for landline numbers to be added.
In my case it was because it was used to send SMS to the customer when the package was available to pick up at the nearest post office (that's was the most normal way to deliver packages back in the day in Norway).

Entirely random computer SNAFUs.
I just spent almost an hour with Apple Support because my iMac Pro wouldn't boot other than to a "Prohibitory Symbol" when it was absolutely fine before I restarted it.
Turned out it had randomly unmounted the Mac HD startup disc...!

Companies who have a website showing an item as "In Stock" at your local branch, do a special trip to get the item.
Only to find that they have none, and a staff member when asked if they have any says "Oh, we haven't had any for ages!"
and..."The website is always showing things are in stock, long before we actually get them"!!!
Geez, if phoning you to get an honest answer as to whether an item was in stock actually happened, I would check by phone first!
Were we given an eta for the item? Nope - only "They are coming"!
I'm looking at you Bunnings.
(The item is still shown as "In Stock" at Bunnings Riccarton as of now)
