Wheelie bins and rubbish bags on the footpath.

The wheelie bin lid states not to put the bin on the footpath, as do rubbish bags.

A real PITA for wheelchairs, elderly, pushchairs and strollers, having to navigate these obstacles.

In Christchurch you are told by the City Council...

"make sure you have your bins placed on the kerb by 6am on the day they are due to be emptied"

Almost all of the footpaths start at the kerb, so the Yellow bin in particular blocks half of the footpath!

The bin lids have a moulding stating "This side to road", contrary to your label.

Media screeching that Donald Trump has 'made history' by attending an anti-abortion rally. So what? If he took a dump on the White House lawn that would also be 'making history'. Just because someone does something for the first time does not mean they are making history and I am frankly sick of headline writers super-sizing everything. What would make history would be President Trump inviting both sides of the abortion debate to sit down together and try to come to some kind of agreement.

Lack of interoperability in streaming.

The service that I use has "upgraded" and now the UI is a nightmare. Why am I forced to use their own playback software instead of it being a choice?

That happens a lot. Something works fine. Then it gets 'improved'. Then it doesn't work anymore. The improvements are often made to serve advertisers.

That my 16 hour flight back from Chicago didn't have Wifi. Why planes that are 10+ years old have it, and planes <5 years old don't, is beyond me.

On the plus side, the 787-9's are exceptionally quiet and smooth aircraft. I *hate* flying, but my 16 hour flight was pretty tolerable.

Oh, and OMG IFE systems on US internal flights that provide you with Movies and TV but every couple of minutes you get adverts. Air NZ isn't a patch on what it was 5 years ago, but no ad's is excellent.

Last time I flew us domestic, I loaded up with netflix before leaving home and then uploaded from the us library from the complimementary wifi in lobby of the hotel. (admittedly it was rather slow but I could reach it from the resturant so each night would start uploading for the return trip.

(Am curious about the auckland to NY direct leg starting late in the year. Might lookup a conference in December. a week in a hotel in NY in the weeks before christmas would be fun.)

When people put televisions in a corner of a room and/or having windows right beside the tv.
Makes watching tv during the day hard to watch when the suns out.

I came back in economy class - a long 16 1/2 hours ..

The seats are not comfortable - I tried to doze leaning forward, but every slight turbulence my noggin was hitting the touch screen and causing it to turn off and on. Didnt bother me, but did annoy my wife, who was sitting next to me ....

Ended up using the blanket for a bit of padding ...

Food was nice ...

Mentioned it before

1) registering to vote in the US election.

2) the US in general is still stuck in filling out paper forms.

Florida really doesn't want anyone whose not a Republican voting, and make it as difficult as possible.

Even though I followed the extremely complex directions, 4 pages.

I signed it, and even scanned and sent along my old voter's registration card, and two old Florida driver's licences.

Per their instruction, I emailed it to the correct address.

I got back an email some weeks later saying it was incomplete, and needed to be physically signed on paper, and mailed in.

I am going to vote, and it ain't going to be Trump.

Good on you. Democracy requires constant effort. Good that you are prepared to make it.
