I can see some products but have not managed to reach the checkout.

Todays soft launch was mostly for internal testing and to selected customers.. I think some of the listings managed to filter through to the general public.. full launch to the general public is scheduled for tomorrow.

Im sure his views are complete not influenced by the potential drop in sales at what will be the busiest shopping time of the year....

I agree. This is the definition of FUD. If I was to back 1 company in the world to setup in a remote location (compared to their HQ) and do a great job, it would be Amazon.

I laughed when I read that. I realise Amazon is using Australians () but when did you last read of Amazon deliveries being a "gigantic stuff up"?! This is the company that delivers stuff in less than 2 hours flat if you live in certain places...and delivers stuff all over the world, every day.

Really Harvey? Amazon literally has its own planes. I guess they're no match for the army of Harvey Norman cargo planes that are flying overhead as we speak /s

I purchased an up spec tv recorder when i was living in ausi a couple of years ago from harvey norman and it took them 3 weeks to supply. Apparantly this was not uncommon from all accounts. Wouldn't be hard for Amazon blow HN away on service from my experience.

It's a LOT of money to be missing out on... these companies want to sell as much as possible as early as possible...

Or maybe they're keeping their powder dry until Cyber Monday?

Ahaha Gerry Harvey comes out with this sort of rubbish all the time. The guy is obviously a great businessman considering where Harvey Norman is at but some of his beliefs are mind-bogglingly stupid sometimes. This sort of thing is obviously completely out of self interest. He's whinged about GST for online purchases in the past too (as if being a billionaire isn't enough).

I ordered some shaver cleaner cartridges from them online in NZ around 6 weeks ago. A simple $40 order, of something they had in stock.

Took 9 days to be delivered to my wife at work, was actually delivered to a guy in a different company on a different floor of the same building.

I ordered $100 of stuff from Amazon to go to my brother in the US. He had it in less than a day.
