Does Gallows Pole by Led Zeppelin count? I love that song. It is actually an English folk song that is reputed to be hundreds of years old.

Zeppelin have been in my record collection since I was about 15. As a fun fact, I was at school with John Paul Jones' three daughters.

Some great links on this thread. Personally I think Jeff Buckley and Chris Cornell could sing anything and it would be better than the original.

 

Here's a couple of my favourites. All by Radiohead and referencing my love for English alternative bands.

 

Blondie - Union City Blue

 

I think this is my favourite
Joy Division/New Order - Ceremony

 

But this is a very very close second - not great quality unfortunately
Portishead - The Rip

 

The Smiths - The Headmaster Ritual

 

Finally something out of left field for Radiohead but Thom's voice is perfect for this
