you can buy a 6 pack of pies for $6.00 at most supermarkets. BigBen, Pams, Irvines. My kids love them.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I imagine a fast food restaurant would have much higher overheads compared to companies that sell multi-packs via a supermarket.

Are the ones McD's sell going to be any better or worse than those? Specialist pie shops make the best pies IMHO, and I don't think many people actually thought Georgie Pie made the greatest tasting pies. It was just that they were cheap. McD's also sell a lot of other things these days, like Sausage rolls, but they don't look particularly appetizing last time I was in there, which was a long time ago.

That is true, but they hav egot those costs no matter what, so it isn't going to cost them much more. Probably the cost will be branding, and perhaps a pie warmer? I doubt they will want to microwave them each time someone orders one.
The thing is they do already sell pies, apple pies, so it isn't a big change.

But is the one they are selling, the $1 version of the pie. They did used to sell higher priced ones. The other thing is that pie standards may have changed. I think they are required to put more meat in them now than they used to.

It is still too pricey IMO, and I think they know it otherwise I think they would have rolled it out further. I am not holding my breath that it will reach Wellington.

So a 4 fold increase does appear to be a little excessive. Though if I remember correctly, the $1 was a smaller pie, and they had other sizes?

The big pie was $2 but it was a different shape and much deeper. The pic of the pie I saw definitely looked like the smaller $1 pie. I'll give it a go, but it'll never take off. Too expensive.
