I bought a small bar of the "new" Cadbury the other day to try and to be honest it was no worse than I remember the old stuff being. Are the small bars the same as the new boxes? Ingredients/Nutritional Info were the same. I didn't notice any particular palm oil taste.

Another thng to bear in mind is temperature. With the colder weather, you may find the mouth feel different due to the lower storage temperature. Unless you like your choc stored in the fridge (!), in which case I guess there's not much change.

I am only buying Whittakers now.

I love their white chocolate but their milk chocolate is nice too.

I sent a comment to Cadbury through their website. About a week later I got a reply back that was full of marketing speak. After I opened the windows and put on a gasmask to cover the odour of the bull**** in the email I sat down and read it. It full a 1280x1024 resolution monitor from top to bottom and was 99.99% drivel. The marketingdroid said that they were doing it to benefit the customer. What a joke.

But people will continue to buy Cadburies. They are also the people that buy the inferior inhouse brands that the supermarkets carry.

I'd go on a Vegan diet but the delivery time from Vega is too long.

I've made the switch to Whittakers too, I haven't tried their white chocolate yet, looking forward to it! I have no problems with it being produced in Australia (all my clients are in Australia, I want the economy to do well over there!), plus half the crumb is still being produced in Dunedin, I have an issue with them using palm oil. They claim it's coming from sustainable sources because they're obtaining it through the RSPO, but the reliability of this has come into question.

It's a shame, I used to love Cadbury chocolate. I lived near their factory in Dunedin for about 6 months, when the wind was right the smell of the chocolate used to come through the flat - I put on a couple of kilos that summer!

I've been buying Whittakers for years. I've never really liked Cadbury (as in taste)

My favourite is Whittakers Hazelnut. It use to be Whittakers Brazil nut, but they stopped making that a long, long time ago :-(

wellyg33k: Anyone see this on Fair Go lastnight? Cadburys have downsized their blocks and replaced some cocoa with vegetable fats.

First time in 25 years apparently. Not happy.

Cadbury's is backtracking and is removing vegetable fat from its recipe for chocolate in NZ!

Too little, too late.

Been buying Whittaker's since they reduced the size of the chocolate bars.

[EDIT: 501 posts? Damn, I missed the mark!]

Same, after trying Whittaker's white chocolate there's no way I could go back to Cadbury, it's so much nicer. Although atleast they're listening to the consumer (or to their bottom line) and switching back.

tried the switch to whittakers, and i must say i wasnt that impressed and switched back to cadbury.

Them making the size smaller isnt a big deal to me. It is the retailers who didnt pass the reduction in cost trhough to the consumer, so I dont blame cadbury for it.

Plus when I gorge on whole blocks im getting less calories lol

EDIT: oohh 4 stars now, I really must start doing some work during the day

looks like Cabury's is going back to old recipe due to backlash against new product

To be honest, I probably wouldn't notice the difference between Whittakers and Cadbury, but not keen on the whole palm oil thing, and I think its a case of too little, too late.
