(1) A driver must not, while driving a vehicle,—

(a) use a mobile phone to make, receive, or terminate a telephone call; or
(b) use a mobile phone to create, send, or read a text message; or
(c) use a mobile phone to create, send, or read an email; or
(d) use a mobile phone to create, send, or view a video message; or
(e) use a mobile phone to communicate in a way similar to a way described in any of paragraphs (b) to (d); or
(f) use a mobile phone in a way other than a way described in any of paragraphs (a) to (e).

So, if your phone is bluetoothed to headphones, and you're listening to music, does paragraph (f) actually make that illegal?

I stepped in a pothole on a summer football pitch two years ago and still can't walk without a limp.

Broken talus, Anterior ankle impingement, achilles tendonitis and a high grade sprain, all at once.

I had a player "tackle" me the second week after returning from four months out having ruptured anterior ligaments in my right ankle.

This was the left one and after waiting an hour for an ambulance and a couple of hours in A&E they said it was a sprain and sent me home with a couple of panadol.

I had no movement in my ankle for 12 months. The bruising was black from my toes to half way up my shin. Multiple xrays suggested no damage and my physio couldn't work it out. Finally she insisted to ACC I needed an MRI (this was the 90's so it wasn't all that common).

That showed I had a fractured talus, from one side to the other, ruptured all the anterior and interior ligaments and ruptured the sack the achilles sits in, but not the achilles thankfully. The worst part was some of the ligaments were caught in the fracture and were being cut every time I tried to exercise.

I had to wait another 12 months for surgery and it was another two years after that before I even considered playing again.

It still gives me trouble 25 years later.

Yikes.

I similarly was told it was just a sprain after about 12 X-Rays and like you was only properly diagnosed after an orthopedic specialist insisted on an MRI six months after returning to the football field and aggravating the injuries.

Here's a white person problem.

I'm buying fitted sheet for more bed, and I'm using thread count as an indication of quality.

Some NZ resellers claim 2500 threads per square inch, when 800 is impossible.

"Bed bath Beyond" lost a lawsuit in the US, but still sells 1,000 threadcount here in NZ.

Briscoes sells 1,500 thread counts sheets.

Lincraft claims 2,500 threadcounts

The only honest company seems to be The Hotel Sheet.co.nz, so that's where I'm buying mine: "The Truth Behind 1000 Thread Count Sheets"

In January 2010, we were excited to be starting a new business. We wanted to sell high-quality cotton sheets, so asked Portuguese producers for 1000 thread count sheets - 2000TC if they made them.

Honestly, you could hear a pin drop.

After an awkward silence, the experts laughed (politely) and explained that if we wanted to sell high-quality, we didn't want 1000 thread count sheets because they were considered an industry joke. In fact, a US retailer was sued over high thread count sheets in 2005, but we'll get to that later.

HOW CAN THIS BE?

Super high thread counts are achieved using double or triple insertions, and/or by counting the invisible threads in a multi-ply yarn. Invisible threads?...

I'm posting complaints for false representations to Consumer NZ for "Bed bath Beyond", Briscoes, and Lincraft

Interesting. I recently went sheet shopping to replace a rubbish sheet I had previously purchased from the Warehouse. I don't remember the thread count, but it was probably 250 since that is what most of them are. But maybe it was less, because the sheet literally disintegrated just from someone sleeping on it. I went searching to all the usual places and could find almost nothing. I did see plenty of 400 and 1,000 thread sheets, but they were all complete sets and I just wanted a single sheet. After trying all the places mentioned above and more, I finally found what I was looking for at Spotlight. It is indeed a '1,000 thread' sheet according to the sign but it is also unquestionably good quality and it was priced accordingly. But I am happy with it.

Pays to compare like with like though. You have to look at both sides of the "per".

I have some that are 500 threads "per 10 cm sq". Which might work out to about 125 threads per square inch if my maths isn't too faulty.

Your maths is indeed faulty😉. If 10 cm sq means 10cm by 10cm then you would have a thread count of about 31 per square inch (500/16)

If it's 10 square centimetres, i.e. 10 lots of 1cm by 1cm, then you would have a thread count of about 312 per square inch.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

That's something I hadn't thought of. I'd still question it though. My problem is I think they distract the driver and lower their awareness of surrounding traffic.

Why do people insist on rushing for the exit at the last stop in the CBD, by pushing past others who are ahead of them and swinging their luggage all over the place, hitting those still seated and anyone behind/beside them?

15sec is not going to change their lives so dramatically that they should become sub-human (in my humble opinion).

My public transport annoyance is that the train platforms appear to be the only place where the last ones to arrive are the first on the train as people, I guess, politely stand at the back of the platform as they arrive and later arriving people gather in front of them until the train arrives. Kind of a reverse queue.
