Handsomedan: Amazing headline about how much the escooter ACC claims have cost NZ.

A third of the page down stats on other claims are given which dwarf the escooter numbers.
But most people won’t have read that far.

https://stuff.co.nz/national/119064363/electric-scooter-injuries-cost-nz-taxpayers-7-million-in-15-months

“ ACC data since e-scooters launched in October 2018 reveals:

- Cycling injuries cost taxpayers just under $74.7m – more than 10 times more than e-scooters. Skateboard and push scooter injuries also cost more, just over $16.1m and $11.3m respectively. (This equipment is also used for sport)”

The amounts are not in dispute, but without a sample size the statistics are meaningless when comparing injuries from other ‘scooter-like’ types of transport. Are there 10 times more cyclists than scooterists? What total distance is covered by the various forms of transport?

Annoys me too.

Well, the photo on the auction clearly shows "oil based ink".

Labelling a cable with the wrong number, and wondering why you can't find the one you are looking for!

Incredibly frustrating.

Quite likely black paint won’t show up on black plastic either - so .....

Which reminds me of another annoyance: black buttons, with almost invisible writing, on black plastic devices.

Black-on-black is not friendly to people over 40.

And speaking of TVs / monitor button, moving all buttons off the front, to a joystick/button on the back.

You’ve totally lost me.

He was complaining that he thought he was buying black paint but he received black ink - then complained that the black ink doesn’t show up on black plastic. But if he had got the black paint he thought he was buying, that wouldn’t have showed up on black plastic either. So what does it matter whether he got ink or paint - and why is he complaining?

He didn't say anywhere that he bought or received black. Only a fool would expect black to show on black, so I assume he ordered the red or the blue expecting a paint marker since the listings jibberjabber was talking about writing on a tire which is a common use for those paint pens, as well as pressing the nib down which again only applies to paint pens not ink markers.

The seller clearly doesnt know what they are selling and he is rightly annoyed about it.

Someone has probably beaten me to it, but those damn Domino's ads about their "war on delivery charges" where they run into battle screaming "NO CHARGE!"

Maybe my maths is rusty, but a pizza delivered for $15 vs a pickup pizza for as little as $5.... seems to me I'll be paying up to $10 for that "NO CHARGE!" delivery.

it's a bit misleading but it is just not the $5 pizza, you can get a gourmet pizza delivered for $15 also

Phone zombies.

I know a lot of us are probably guilty of it but I experienced 4 of them this morning on my scoot-commute. They stop, meander, lurch and generally make themselves impossible to pass...and they are nearly always wearing earphones, so won't hear a polite ask to move out of the way.

Having to trace cables to figure out which USB plug is the mouse, which is the keyboard, etc. None of the manufacturers seem to make the plugs green and purple any more!

Dymo.

Nope, my Dymo printer has plain black USB plugs like everything else.
