Handle9:Not being able to sleep in anymore.
I'm mildly hungover and would really have enjoyed another hour or two. Oh well, afternoon nap it is :)

Kids waking you up?
My kids, I think are a bit older than yours, but from the age of 4, we made a set of guidelines for them to follow, including laying out breakfast for them in the mornings, laying out clothes and teaching them the things that needed to be done before they were allowed on the devices.
My kids aren't super early risers, and we tend to be up not much later than 9am in weekends unless we are unwell or something else comes up, so they are usually only on the devices for around an hour.
We explained sleeping in, and told them for important things they can always wake us. Before that, one spouse took turns waking up and taking care of them each day in the weekend.
It was a worthwhile investment.
None of this may be relevant, but in case it helps at all. I usually get at least 1 sleep in a week.

Isn’t this self inflicted?!
What has that got to do with me being annoyed?
And no this was inflicted on me by the Italians. Peronivirus

Breaking my hip.
Jesus God that sounds unpleasant. Sorry for your misery. I can only hope you get better soon!
Do you have some support to help you get things like Groceries or other things you'll need? If you have any tech needs I am happy to help gratis if you are in Auckland.
Cheers. I should be ok. Been a bit of blur. Crashed (my mountainbike) in Queenstown, ambo and surgery in Invercargill, discharged to my parents in Dunedin. Fly back to Auckland next week. Thankfully my partner packed up most of my stuff and took it back with her.
There's an interesting irony, my mother is due a hip replacement (mine has been screwed back together because I'm under 40) within the month, so I'm proving how dangerous their house is on crutches, polished floors and rugs, barely any electrical sockets, antiques and furniture sticking out everywhere. So I hope Dad moves half this stuff out of the way for Mum!

The kids are fine, I'm just used to waking up fairly early and once I am awake I'm awake. The kids are normally up at 5:45am for school so they are used to being up early as well but they know to be quiet and their tablets don't switch on until 7am.
We have the privilege of live in help so it's not that I have to be up early, I just wake up and then am awake.
Ok, well don't hesitate to shout out if you need anything, if you don't have a laptop or something, I can sure I can arrange something for you to use etc.
I really, really, really want to like Linux Mint but it just won't let me. After multiple failed attempts to install it over the years, I decided it was time to try again and once again, it ate up a day of my life I will never get back for no result at all.
First, I really don't get why a supposedly advanced OS is still fixated on DVDs. Who has a DVD drive these days? Fortunately there is Rufus, which works just fine for creating a bootable USB drive from an ISO. So why doesn't Mint just prominently feature this, with a footnote somewhere about DVDs for those still living in the last century? Instead it does exactly the opposite.
But that is quibbling. I booted Mint from the USB stick to give it a try and it was great. Everything I tried just worked. No more silly failures to recognise perfectly standard hardware devices and no more dumb compatibility issues. Everything I wanted was just there, easy to configure and use. It really is a comfortable experience for a Win 7 user.
After that I couldn't wait to install it. So I clicked on the button and off it went, until it reached about 80% and crashed after complaining of a drive failure. It didn't quite make clear which drive but my hard drive is a virtually new SSD which worked just fine with the previous Windows installation. Mint's helpful hint? Try cleaning the DVD (?) and do it all another time! That DVD obsession again. Or maybe there is a scratch on my flash drive?
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos

Does it? The Installation Guide (linked from the download page) lists USB first, with "If you cannot boot from USB, you can use a blank DVD" listed as a second choice.
So much linux stuff is stuck in the past still with booting, not supporting UEFI or NVMe, excuses given that the distro is designed for old computer and other things, outdated documentation etc. If the computer is set to still allow legacy booting, often drives will start using bios mode and that effects things furthur on in the install process.

How To Spot A Fake Profile (Catfish)
I lasted about 2 minutes of the video due to (a) too shouty (b) awful diction (c) awful accent
However, I did learn about something I knew nothing of - glad to be married and far too old to worry about this sort of nonsense!!
Handsomedan:
Right...I'm back with more things that vex me.
Actually just the one at the moment:
People who walk in a clearly marked cycle lane (Beach Rd, Auckland CBD)...GAAAAHHHHH!!! What's wrong with people? It has big bicycles stencilled on the path...there's a massive pedestrian path just over the other side of this very wide path area. Why don't they stick to their bit? They'd soon complain if a bike/scooter came haring up behind them on the footpath!!
Yeah I see more peds using it than cyclists. It also doesn't help that on one end just before it splits there is a picture of a person AND a cyclist on the ground. They really should make the cycle part green (like cycle lanes) and put signs up on each end.

I guess now cyclists know what its like to have slower inconsiderate people blocking your way thru... Doubt that will change their behavior tho.
